Job Summary And Purpose
Ensure that all the shipowner SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, and Security) policies are implemented and adhered to at the main project office, and at the selected shipbuilding sites for the NAKILAT's ships (and other, as required) newbuilding programs. The primary focus of the job will be ensured that the SHE policies promulgated by NAKILAT are uniformly established and executed at the various building sites.
Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the SHES activities for Shipping, consistent with the Nakilat's policies.
- Perform initial assessments and inspections of shipbuilder's facilities to confirm SHES compliance.
- Prepare regular SHES reports, in accordance with the Nakilat's requirements.
- Support and advise the project team in the execution of safety and health management programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of shipyard initiatives to minimize incidents.
- Support and advise the project to achieve safety and health objectives.
- Coordinate efforts of the safety supervisors at the different building sites.

- Carry out any other related duties as directed by Shipbuilding Director to support the Shipbuilding initiatives and projects.

Qualifications
Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Safety or Science.
Experience
- Minimum twelve (12) years experience in the oil and gas industry and with a ship owner/operator, including involvement in design and construction or major conversion of large vessels, including at least ten (10) years of direct experience in implementing SHES policies, or equivalent experience.
Job Specific Skills
- Strong working knowledge of recognized international regulatory requirements and standards as applicable to the SHES effort, especially as they apply to the shipbuilding business.
- Understanding of local SHES regulations and policies at all locations where the Shipbuilding Project Team maintains an office, as well as the in-house policies, guidelines, and SHES organizational structure utilized by the various shipbuilders.
- Knowledge of the ship design and construction business.
- Knowledge of international codes and regulatory requirements, and company management systems, and ability to develop management processes to meet shipping project expectations.
- Skill and experience at supervision of technical professionals and at influencing them without having direct authority.
- Excellent written and spoken English language Skills.
- Good management and motivational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, to be used when dealing with individuals of various levels of authority and of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Capable of hands-on coordination of SHES issues.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation software (especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), including the ability to prepare professional reports and presentations.
- SHES Training in accordance with the Nakilat policies.
