Purpose:
- The Dry Dock Superintendent / Dock Master is responsible for the safe and cost efficient drydocking and day to day operations of the different drydocking facilities within IMI, by managing manpower and assets in line with the international & local regulations and standards related to the field.
- He shall ensure that the assets under his supervision are in good operational condition and coordinate its maintenance as necessary through IMI's Asset Management department.
Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships:

- Presides over docking/undocking operations of different types and sizes of vessels and rigs at the different docking facilities within IMI yard such as the Graving docks, the ship-lift, and the Load Out Barge.
- Coordinate with the Asset Management team to ensure the docking facilities, its structures and its machinery are in good operational condition.
- Develop and update Operation procedures, check list, guidelines, manuals, and other operational documents related to the docking/undocking operations.
- Coordinate with Marine Technical Department and assist whenever required in the development of docking and mooring plans after review of vessels and rigs drawings and specifications.
- Ensure Docking preparation prior to vessel arrival is taking place as required.
- Use adequate resources (Including Diving and Digitalization solutions) to ensure vessel/rig are correctly positioned during the docking operations as per the provided drawings and docking procedures.
- Build up the Dry-Docking division capabilities in term of manpower recruitment, training, and development.
- Ensure smooth coordination and close communication with other Marine Operations divisions including the VTS tower and Marine Yard Control center, for better planning and optimization of marine manpower & assets utilization & performance.
- Ensure proper support and guidance are given to Pilotage and towage team to conduct safe Docking /Undocking operations.
- Promote and implement a strong safety culture for all Marine Operations team under his command and ensure they are adhering to company safety regulations and are fully briefed on all safety requirements.
- Ensure waste management and pollution control measures are followed as per relevant IMI procedures.
- Coordinate and support other IMI Functions, Departments, and divisions within the scope of his duty to allow on time best quality service given to the Clients.
- Represent IMI as required at internal or external meetings.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of IMI Business plans.
- Contribute to achieving IMI goals and KPIs at corporate, function departmental and individual levels.

Who we are looking for:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering, Marine or Naval Architect or equivalent.
Experience:
- At least 9-15 years industry work experience.
- At least 5 years in marine operational experience in dry docking operation in a dynamic shipyard.
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations):
- Marine professional Certificates (such as COC or OOW) are recommended.
- Basic STCW Certifications preferrable.
- Third party Dock Master certificate is a plus.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Mastering of docking & undocking operations
- Having an extensive understanding of Marine Operations and relevant standard &IMO conventions.
- Demonstrates ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well thought out manner without the need to resort to authority.
- Well-developed presentation skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage large multi-disciplinary teams, across a broad range of technologies.
- In depth knowledge on the different aspects of dry docking in line with industry standards including class. Flag and other regulatory/statutory requirements
- Proven ability to solve operational problems without supervision and deliver effective results to internal clients.
- Understanding of ERP systems.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
Languages:
- Excellent English communication Skills (verbal and writing)
- Arabic speaking is a plus.
