Your future role
The Deputy Fire Chief Assumes responsibility of station resources for the operational period until relieved. Manages routine duties as measures of preparedness, as well as, responds to and recovers from emergencies. Coordinates emergency response with other functions within IMI as well as external entities as applicable.
Primary Accountabilities
- Responds to emergency calls of all levels and takes command to resolve situations while maintaining highest priorities of personnels and equipment safety.
- Supervises and coordinates shift operations in-line with departments policies, procedures, and strategies, ensuring safe and efficient daily operations.
- Management of up to 30 personnel overall through division of labor and within the span of control ranges.
- Maintains a good physical performance standing in accordance with the departments fitness & medical protocols.
- Performs various administrative tasks as directed by Fire Chief.
- Develops pre-incident plans and promotes familiarization to emergency response members
Who we are looking for
Education
- A bachelors degree in Fire Science Administration/Public Administration
- Fire Protection Engineering with 6+ years of experience in fire operations.

- Meets certification requirements of Deputy Fire Chief I as per the following
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter I&II
- NFPA 1005 Land-Based Marine Firefighting
- NFPA 472 Hazmat awareness
- NFPA 472 Hazmat Operations
- NFPA 472 Hazmat Technician
- NFPA 1006 Rope rescue I&II
- NFPA 1006 Confined Space I&II
- NFPA 1002 Pump Operator
- NFPA 1002 Aerial Apparatus
- NFPA 1061 Telecommunicator I
- Emergency Medical Responder
- NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I
- NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I
- NFPA 1021 Fire Officer II
- Incident Command System (ICS) 300 & 400
- Other relevant certifications will be considered.
