Senior Technician, Mechanical
- The position holder is responsible to safely, timely and cost-effectively lead the performance of all mechanical related maintenance day to day activities as per the asset management plans to achieve asset management objectives and therefore achieve IMI strategic objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Adhere to regulations, quality, security, and safety standards.
- Carry out diagnosis of faults, maintenance, and repairs to all types of Process shipyard equipment assets in a safe, timely and professional manner and return assets to operational service.
- Carry out preventive maintenance scheduled and planned work orders as required and provide feedback to improve the program efficiency.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, wiring diagrams, and other specifications, as required, to determine and correctly follow installation procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair failures of all types of engines, gearboxes, pumps, valves, pipes, mechanical installations, lifting machinery/equipment, pneumatic & hydraulic systems and components, etc. (but not limited to).
- Safely shut down systems and/or equipment to allow for inspections, renovations, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Supports on-call response as needed.
- Log completion of work and enter adequate work orders history data into IFS.
- Work within 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) methodology to maintain workplace to a high standard.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
- Lead and/or support young trainees and apprentices & train people within own work group.
Qualifications
- Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
- At least 9-12 years of experience in Shipyards/offshore or Similar industries.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and/or NEBOSH standards and practices.
- Good Computer Skills in MS Office.
- Understanding of Health and Safety practices
- Strong knowledge of shipyard assets management requirements, all types of maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
- Professional hands-on experience with mechanical systems installation, removal, assembly, disassembly, preservations and required tooling.
- Strong knowledge of shipyard operational requirements.
- Understanding engineering, scientific and other technical information.
- Planning and prioritizing activities.
- Advanced Problem-solving skills.
- Excellent team working skills.
- Ability to train self and cascade knowledge to others.
- Good understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
