Internist
Internal Medicine Registrar
The Internal Medicine Registrar shall be accountable to the Consultant to whom she/he is assigned. As Internist you will be providing long-term, comprehensive care to our patients and managing both common and complex diseases. You should be able to effectively diagnose patients and suggest a successful course of treatment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in the clinical evaluation and care of patients in a variety of patient care settings with sufficient frequency to achieve the competencies required by their discipline under the supervision of the attending staff. Monitor and Write progress notes in patient charts, although attending physicians retain responsibility for the care of patients seen by registrars and must review the care of their patients.
- Accompany a Consultant - Internist on daily patient visits.
- Order diagnostic tests for patients under the supervision of consultant.
- Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient.
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients
- Monitor patient progress or responses to treatments / Develop assessment and treatment plan.
- Refer patient to medical specialist or another practitioner when necessary.
- Carry out in patient and out patient clinic duties including emergency calls as assigned by the consultant, in accordance with his approved clinical privileges.
- Administer the day-to-day duties of and supervise Residents and Interns assigned to the consultant, on behalf of the consultant.
- Assume responsibility for the timely completion of medical records and other medical reports, in accordance with the hospital's standards for patient medical records.
- Participate fully in the hospital and the department quality assurance program, including the infection control and utilization review programs.
- Participate in the hospital medical education program as required.
- Participate in and/or actively support the conduct of approved research projects
- Assist with the furtherance of post- graduate training of Residents.
- Take his/her turn on the duty roster.
- Share actively in patient & family education in collaboration with all related other healthcare givers.
- Participate in patient safety and family education program.
- Comply with the standards laid down by the approved JCI accreditation & standards and perform the duties necessary to support and achieve accreditation.
- Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Through the chain of command and/or occurrence variance report, identifies any occurrence not consistent with the operation of the hospital or standard of service for patients, employees or visitors and situations that put patients, staff or visitors at risk for injury or other harm.
Other Skills
Fluent in written and spoken English and spoken Arabic is preferable.
Must be emotionally stable and in good physical health.
Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint Presentations, Outlook, and Word
Qualifications:
1. Completed Medical Degree, Ph.D., M.D., MBBS or equivalent.
2.Completed years of Specialized Medical Training.
3.Extensive skill, knowledge, and experience.
4. At least 3 years experience as a Internist in Hospital Setting.
5. Current Certification and License is required.
6.Current Full Medical Council Registration
