JOB SUMMARYThe Infrastructure Administrator is a member of the IT Infrastructure Management division. S/He assists team members with support, maintenance and optimization of core network services, devices, and communications systems. In addition, to ensure the IT systems and services are resilient, secure, accessible, and adaptable to support USEK's changing needs.S/He works alongside senior team members to provide logistical support, respond to queries, document changes, and assist with testing, diagnosis and resolution of system and network service outages and incidents.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
- Administers and maintains LAN/WAN infrastructure including network cabling, testing network connectivity, firewall configurations, switches, and VPNs.
- Configures and supports WLAN Infrastructure including wireless equipment, security standards and best practices.
- Performs diagnostics of network issues and provides technical support on site or remotely to resolve issues in a swift manner.
- Configures devices (network and systems) for new deployments per direction of senior staff, and/or configures replacement devices from backup configuration files.
- Contributes to maintaining USEK Data Center.
- Creates, administers, maintains, and troubleshoots virtual machines servers farm.
- Identifies servers needs and requirements, plans and coordinates the delivery of high availability of systems services.
- Administers systems backup and restores data; executes monthly checks on data integrity.
- Administers and maintains SAN/NAS storages.
- Assists application team in the setup, monitoring and enhancements of their applications and database servers.
- Creates and updates technical documentation regarding configuration and troubleshooting procedures.
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned.
Education Background
- Bachelor degree in Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science (or related field)
- A Master's degree is a plus.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in English, French and Arabic.
- MCSE/MCSA and CCNP/CCNA is a plus.
- Thorough understanding of computer system hardware principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of network address management concepts, including sub-netting.
- Knowledge of windows and Linux operating systems.
- Understanding of TCPIP addressing and protocols.
- Familiarity with use of a Ticketing System.
- Flexibility and willingness to work varying hours and shifts including holidays and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and be able to work independently to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
- Self-motivated to learn and acquire new skills.
