We are seeking a dedicated and proactive IT Junior Technician to join our school's IT team. The successful candidate will support the school's IT infrastructure and provide technical assistance to staff and students. This role involves maintaining hardware, software, and network systems, as well as troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to ensure smooth and efficient operations within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide first-line technical support to staff and students, resolving hardware and software issues.- Respond to IT support tickets in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to teaching and learning activities.
Assist in the setup and maintenance of computers, printers, projectors, and other IT equipment.
- Hardware and Software Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and updates on all school IT equipment, including computers, servers, and network devices.- Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems as required.
Network Administration:- Assist in monitoring and maintaining the school's network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security.
Support the configuration and management of network devices, including routers, switches, and access points.Data Management:
Ensure regular backups of critical data and systems, following established procedures.
- Assist in the management and organization of digital files and databases.
User Training and Support:
- Provide basic IT training and support to staff and students to enhance their understanding and effective use of technology.
Create and maintain user guides and documentation for common IT processes and procedures.
Support the implementation and maintenance of IT security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and access controls.- Ensure compliance with school policies and industry regulations regarding data protection and IT usage.
Incident Response:- Assist in the identification, reporting, and resolution of IT security incidents and breaches.
Participate in regular IT audits and assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:- A diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
- Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Knowledge of common office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience:
- Prior experience in an IT support role, preferably in an educational setting, is an advantage.
Experience with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
Deliverables:- Regular reports on IT support activities, including resolved and pending issues.
Documentation of IT processes, procedures, and user guides.
- Records of hardware and software maintenance, updates, and configurations.
Backup logs and data recovery procedures.- Security incident reports and resolutions.
Working Conditions:- Based in the schools IT department.
May require occasional after-hours work for maintenance and emergency support.
- Interaction with staff, students, and external vendors.
