The Key Technician will be responsible for providing key duplication and car key programming services in our retail store. This role requires a high level of precision, technical skills, and excellent customer service to ensure customer satisfaction and the proper functioning of all keys and key-related services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately duplicate residential, commercial, and automotive keys using key cutting machines.
Inspect original keys for wear or damage before duplication.- Ensure all duplicated keys are tested and verified for proper functionality.
Program transponder keys, remote keys, and key fobs for various car models.
- Use specialized equipment and software to perform key programming tasks.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to car key programming.- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their key duplication and programming needs.
Provide expert advice and recommendations on key and lock products.
- Handle customer complaints and issues with professionalism and efficiency.
Maintain an organized inventory of key blanks, key cutting tools, and programming equipment.- Monitor stock levels and report low inventory to management for reordering.
Ensure all equipment is regularly maintained and in good working condition.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in key duplication and car key programming technologies.
Maintain a thorough understanding of different key types, lock mechanisms, and car key systems.- Follow all safety protocols and procedures while operating key cutting machines and programming equipment.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Keep the work area clean and safe for both employees and customers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in key cutting, locksmithing, or a related field is preferred.- Technical proficiency with key cutting machines and car key programming tools.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.- Basic computer skills for operating programming software and inventory systems.
Manual dexterity to handle key cutting and programming equipment.
