JOB SUMMARYSupporting the Chef de Partie in the kitchen, the Kitchen Commis, also known as Commis Chef, performs cooking, cleaning, delivery, and other support duties as instructed by the Chef de Partie to help ensure that kitchen operations are running smoothly
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Assists other chefs in the food preparation process.
- Cooks and prepares elements of high-quality dishes.
- Prepares vegetables, meats, and fish.
- Prepares the next day's ingredients during the afternoon shift.
- Receives deliveries and verifies the number and quality of all ordered items.
- Performs basic cleaning duties and ensures that workstations are properly sanitized.
- Contributes to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards.
- Takes inventory of restaurant supplies and notifies their supervisor of low or depleted supplies.
- Discards all expired and spoiled food items stored in the stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
- No previous experience required.
- High school diploma.
