The Position

Purpose

Roche Diagnostics Saudi Arabia (RDSA) is currently looking for an in-house Legal Manager to join its dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in providing legal guidance and support to ensure legal compliance, risks mitigation and facilitation of RDSA's strategic objectives within a complex internal set-up and a highly regulated healthcare environment. You will also work in close collaboration with the Head of Legal and Compliance Middle East Compliance Officer and with the Roche Diagnostics Middle East (RDME) Legal & Compliance team.

You will be a member of the RDSA Leadership Team as well as the RDME Legal & Compliance team, reporting directly to the General Manager of RDSA, with dotted lines to the Head of Legal and Compliance Middle East Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities
  • Legal Advisory
  • You will proactively provide expert legal advice on an extremely wide range of legal matters to the business, including but not limited to commercial, corporate, competition and labor, data privacy law matters for Saudi Arabia
  • You will act as RDSA's Board Secretary as and when needed
  • Contract Management
  • You will draft, review and negotiate various agreements, ensuring legal protection and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Risk Assessment
  • You will conduct legal and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks and legal liabilities associated with business operations, actual policies, practices and contractual relationships and you will develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Legal Research
  • You will proactively conduct legal research on key matters such as antitrust, data privacy, distribution, public procurement, product liabilities, etc. and convey legal advice and recommendations to the Head of Legal and Compliance Middle East, in consultation with external lawyers if need be
  • Policy Development

You will contribute to the development and review of company policies, ensuring alignment with legal frameworks

  • Training and Education

You will provide advice, education and training to RDSA in order to raise awareness within RDSA about legal risks and mitigation strategies

  • Litigation Support

You will provide support to the Head of Legal and Compliance Middle East in order to protect and defend RDSA's best interests and coordinate with external lawyers as required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
  • Ability to provide accurate, high-quality, strategic yet practical and concise legal advice
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as business acumen to assess legal implications and provide sound and pragmatic recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills that will be essential in interacting with senior stakeholders from diverse cultures and background
  • Ability to challenge status constructively and proactively contribute to improvements

Expertise

  • Bachelor degree in law graduate or equivalent and bar membership in good standing is required; post graduate degree is a plus
  • At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney, in-house and/or at a law firm
  • In-depth understanding of Saudi laws including but not limited to commercial, corporate, competition, labor, data privacy, healthcare laws, regulations and compliance requirements
  • Proven experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts within the healthcare sector
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required
