Sperasoft is eagerly seeking a highly skilled Level Artist to bring expertise in crafting exciting levels for games that will be played by millions. This role is an opportunity to bring your mastery of Level Art to the forefront and leave a bright impression on the gaming landscape.
Responsibilities
- Become familiar with game design documents to know the environments, objects, atmospheres, story, and style to build immersive environment
- Follow references, concepts, and art direction, while also having the initiative to take the work further independently
- Participate in the search for precise graphic references that are specific to assets marked for production
- Become familiar with tool installation methods and their settings, the project's file nomenclature system, and the data updating processes in the engine, and follow all the instructions
- Create and edit documents that list and present the graphical content of the levels (objects, environments, atmosphere, lighting, styles, etc.)
- Act as a production and artistic support for Lead Level Artist
- Help estimate, after assessing level content with the PM and Lead - modeling, the working time and plan tasks per priority and per level
- Establish modeling and texture needs, place the order with the content artists, and follow up on the progress and quality of the work with the PM and External Art Manager
- Integrate produced objects and textures into the level
- Create architectural elements of the level if needed and integrate them
- Participate in setting the properties of every actor on the level when necessary (e.g.: movement, collisions, lighting effects, VFX, sound, etc.)
- Oversee the debug process for all levels
- Verify the quality of the maps once they are imported into the game and make any necessary improvements
Requirements
- Proficient understanding of level building, starting from level design and ending with setting up VFX and navmesh
- Proficient understanding of basic art principles like composition, storytelling, volumes, etc
- Knowledge of the World Partition System and Level Instancing in game engines
- Knowledge of PBR and physically based material standards
- Knowledge of material optimization for real-time engines
- Knowledge of material blending systems
- Proficient in Maya/ Zbrush / Substance Painter / Unreal engine
- Good eye for appropriate stylization and details
- Shipped titles in similar role
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in collaboration with other artists on the same area
- Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
