Job Purpose
BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Life Support Technician is responsible to the RSAF 75th Squadron Commander for advising on all Tornado Aircrew Equipment Assemblies (AEA) inspection, cockpit ainegration, maintenance fitting, adjust and Aircrew instruction in survival and the use and care of Life Support Equipment
Job Accountabilities
- To prepare and maintain all aircrew's life support equipment used within AWC like aircrew helmets and masks, G-suits, counter pressure jackets, life support vests etc.
- To provide an efficient and effective Life Support service to all Aircrew of the AWC.
- Carry out the day-to-day supervision of the Squadron Life Support Section.
- Maintain AEA records for Squadron Aircrew.
- Hold a stock of serviceable aircrew's life support equipment.
- Conduct initial orientation training to trainee Aircrew on Tornado AEA.
- Provide instruction to Aircrew on Survival refresher training.
- Have an active teaching role about all safety systems pertinent to the Tornado.
- To maintain files and update RSAF manuals in accordance with RSAFM 105-8 for training needs.
- Responsible to 75th Sqn Training Manger for all Life Support training matters.
- Responsible for:
- Supervision of life Support Technicians and the training of Life Support trainees.
- Sizing and initial fitting of AEA and Aircrew Clothing.
- Tornado Aircrew cockpit integration.
- Tornado Aircrew refresher training.
- Maintaining and updating the technical library.
- Compilation of reports on shortfalls within the Life Support Section.
- Base Supply equipment and clothing requests for Aircrew.
- Ensuring that supply procedures are followed as specified in RSAF Supply Manual 67-1.
- Routine daily maintenance and rectification on all aspects of AEA.
- Periodic 15 weekly maintenance of AEA.
- Ensuring that precision measuring equipment is calibrated at the prescribed intervals by PMEL and records of calibration are maintained.
- Prepares, supervises and conducts Life Support and Survival continuation training program to Aircrew.
- Compilation and updating of all aspects of specialty code 245X1 for all skill levels in accordance with the RSAFM 105-8.
- Attending AWC training meetings when required.
- Assisting with other duties as directed by the Director AWC in support of LOA 5/13 operations..
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
- Must have a military background with at least 5 years experience in Flying Clothing/Life Support Maintenance.
- Must have attended a formal Flying Clothing Course, which covered all aspects of AEA, and clothing. Specifically, experience is required in instruction to Aircrew, sizing, fitting and maintenance of AEA.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of the Gold supply system.
- Must have a full driving license.
