Purpose and Scope:
The job holder is responsible for Monitoring and managing the alternative investments portfolio within the Investments Department. He/she is responsible for conducting investment analysis, evaluating investment opportunities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. He/she will also be responsible for monitoring portfolio performance and providing regular reports to direct management.

Strategy, Planning and Management
Planning and Management
- Manage the alternative investments team in developing and implementing investment strategies that align with the bank's objectives and risk tolerance
- Participate in the development of the department's long-term strategy and goals.
- Collaborate with direct management to identify and evaluate potential strategic partnerships and business opportunities
- Provide insights and recommendations on portfolio allocation and investment strategies.
- Support the development and implementation of risk management strategies for alternative investments.
Operations, Review and Reporting
Understanding
- Maintain updated knowledge of rules, regulations and standards in the related field and related matters of interest to the department and its customers
- Maintain current knowledge about financial products available to business including bonds, stocks, investments, and trusts
- Understand various aspects of Alternative Investments such as preparation of due diligence reports on fund managers, selection processes, monitoring and back office related functions
Fieldwork
- Conduct investment analysis and market research to identify potential Alternative Investment opportunities such as Private Equity funds and structured products.
- Evaluate proposed deal terms and perform risk assessments on investment opportunities
- Prepare financial models, investment valuations, and risk assessments.
- Monitor and manage existing Alternative Investment portfolios, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Maintain oversight of portfolio performance and work towards achieving performance targets.
- Collaborate with external partners and investment professionals to assess investment risks and returns.
- Monitor and review the performance of the Alternative Investments portfolio and use analytics to make recommendations for adjustments as needed.
Reporting
- Generate and escalates periodic and requested reports ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
Stakeholder Management
Internal Interactions
- Collaborate with all stakeholders across business units, provide investment related services to other departments in the bank and assist in investment related projects for the bank as a whole
- Participates in the various cross-functional committees/teams for multiple purposes to achieve optimal cooperation and to assume seamless quality service.
- Coordinate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
External Interactions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including fund managers, brokers, and service providers.
- Represent the company in meetings and negotiations with external stakeholders.
People Development
- Evaluate performance and recommend developmental needs of the team
- Review recommendations of subordinate staff and provide guidance in resolving complex or sensitive problems
- Maintain and promote positive work culture and responsible for improving employee engagement level of the team
Succession Planning
- Develop own successor(s) and commit to assist in the development of the knowledge and skillsets required; with the guidance and in coordination and support of Human Resources & Development Group, ensuring successor(s) readiness within the agreed time frame.
- Ensure and be involved in the identification, assessment, development planning and review of own successors.
- Coordinate and consult with GFH (where applicable) and Human Resources & Development Group for the application, selection and implementation of Succession Plans.
- Discuss career development plans & provide employees with opportunities for development.
- Partner with Human Resources & Development Group to ensure alignment and linkage of succession plans with other Human Resources initiatives.
Job Specifications:
Educational Qualification(s): Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
Certification(s): Desired Attributes (Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience
Strong knowledge of alternative asset classes, investment strategies, and market dynamics.
Language(s) known: English (Proficient) and Arabic (Proficient).
