Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented automotive factory Utility Manager to oversee the maintenance and operation of utility systems within our automotive manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of electrical and mechanical equipment such as electrical substation, HVAC systems, boilers, compressors, chillers, plumping, firefighting systems, BMS and other essential utility systems to support production operations. Duties also include managing utility budgets, scheduling maintenance, and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and supervising a team of utility technicians. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in utility systems and a proven track record of effective leadership in a manufacturing environment.
As the Automotive Factory Utility Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure the continuous operation and maintenance of all utility systems within the automotive factory to support production operations, while adhering to safety standards and regulations. You will lead a team of utility engineers & technicians and effectively allocate resources to maintain efficient and cost-effective utility operations. Additionally, you will play a critical role in optimizing budgets, implementing safety protocols, and driving process improvements to enhance utility system reliability and efficiency.
Key Functional Responsibilities
- Utility System Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of all utility systems in the automotive facility, including HVAC, compressed air, boilers, chillers, plumbing, water treatment, firefighting systems, electrical systems and BMS.
- Energy Management: Develop and implement energy management strategies to optimize energy use, reduce consumption, and improve overall energy efficiency throughout the facility.
- Budget and Resource Planning: Develop budgets, forecast utility expenditures, and manage resources effectively to ensure efficient utility operations and cost control.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards pertaining to utility systems, environmental regulations, and workplace safety.
- Emergency Response Planning: Develop and implement emergency response plans for utility-related incidents, ensuring the safety of employees and the continuity of operations during emergencies.
- Vendor and Contractor Management: Manage relationships with utility service providers, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely and effective delivery of services, maintenance, and repairs.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of utility systems, analyze key performance indicators, and implement corrective actions to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Implementation of LEED sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of utility operations, incorporating renewable energy sources, waste reduction programs, and other environmentally friendly practices.
- Technology Integration: Evaluate and integrate new technologies, automation systems, and energy-efficient solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of utility systems in the automotive facility.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement continuous improvement initiatives to identify areas for enhancement, streamline processes, and drive operational excellence in utility management within the automotive industry.
Job Requirements
- A master's degree in Mechatronics/Mechanical/Electrical engineering, MBA is a plus.
- Arabic and English language are Mandatory.
- A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in utility engineering management within a utilities and manufacturing environment include at least 3 years in automotive industry.
- Greenfield experience is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge and expertise in utility systems, including HVAC, compressed air, boilers, chillers, plumbing, water treatment, firefighting systems, electrical systems and BMS specific to automotive manufacturing.
- Proven track record of leading and motivating a team of utility management professionals, fostering a collaborative work environment, and achieving operational excellence.
- Analytical abilities to assess utility system performance, diagnose issues, and develop solutions to optimize efficiency and reliability.
- In-depth understanding of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing utility operations in automotive manufacturing environments, always ensuring compliance.
- Strong financial acumen to develop and manage budgets, forecast utility expenditures, and optimize resource allocation for cost-effective utility operations.
- Proficiency in project management principles, overseeing utility projects, coordinating resources, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Strategic thinking and planning skills to develop comprehensive strategies for utility systems, aligning them with organizational goals and driving operational efficiency.
