Verify and monitor all safety and pollution prevention activities in the operation of each ship.
Asst. DPA should have the qualification, training and experience. verify and monitor the implementation of the safety management system in compliance with the ISM Code.
Present ISM matters to the highest level of management and gain sustained support for safety management system improvements.
Determine whether the safety management system elements meet the requirements of the ISM Code.
Determine the effectiveness of the safety management system within the Company and the ship by using established principles of internal audit and management review to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
Gather and analyze data from hazardous occurrences, hazardous situations, near misses, incidents and accidents.
Assess the effectiveness of the safety management system in ensuring compliance with other rules and regulations which are not covered by statutory and classification surveys and enabling verification of compliance with these rules and regulations.
Liase/ coordinate with internal teams, and onboard to effectively apply regulations, keeping track of all ship certifications and vessel audits.
Preparing ship and internal staff for regular internal audits. Participating in office audits and inspections.
Keeping close communication with Capt / CO during audits and inspections onboard.
Supervise the implementation/application of ISM (SMC), MLC, ISPS (ISSC), OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certifications of the vessels owned by the Company.
Requirements:
Degree in Nautical Science/ Marine Transportation. Relevant training and certifications for the role.
Previous experience as HSEQ / Asst DPA would be a plus.
Previous sailing experience as 3rd or 2nd Officer.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Coordination and commit to dead lines
Willing to work independently with minimum supervision.
