Job Description

One of our prestigious clients in Kingdom of Saudi Arabiais looking to hire a Marine Support Services Manager.

Job Purpose:

The Marine Support Services Manager is responsible for efficiently managing the activities of the Marine Support Services Department across the company yard in accordance with international and local regulations and standards pertaining to the field. It is imperative to ensure that the company's policies, corporate KPIs, vision, and Quality Management System are upheld.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Overall management of the cost-efficient distribution of shared Marine manpower and equipment to various Marine Operations Departments (Dry docks, Port Operation, and Ship-lift & transfer system).
  • Management of Marine Operations consumables and tools, including maintaining updated inventory and ensuring minimum stock availability within the company warehouse or Marine Operations main/satellite stores.
  • Management of asset reliability/availability risks by coordinating with the Asset Management team for day-to-day preventive maintenance activities, reporting breakdown failures, and recommending measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensuring adequate resourcing, appropriate procedures, processes, and standards are in place for all Marine Support Services and updating them as required.
  • Ensuring Marine Support Services meet the Companys contractual obligations in terms of Quality, timeline, budget, KPIs, and overall strategy.
  • Supervision and follow-up of the Training & Development plans of the marine operations team to fulfill marine operations tasks.
  • Proposal and implementation of improvement measures to generate cost savings, optimize operations, enhance service quality, and improve company competitiveness and reputation while complying with company Policies & Procedures and values.
  • Coordination with different company functions to ensure work activities are conducted safely and environmentally friendly with zero tolerance.
  • Supervision of the preparation of diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports by the marine operations team and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Leading the procurement process of new assets, tools, equipment, and consumables, including technical selection, commissioning, final checkout, factory, and site acceptance testing to adhere to functional specifications.
  • Ensuring achievement of set departmental KPIs aligned with corporate goals.
  • Assisting the Asset management and Marine Operation GM and VP in corporate projects assigned to the function.
  • Attending meetings at different levels to report and update about Marine Operation tasks and activities.
  • Management of key relationships between the company and its customers, suppliers, and employees.
  • Ensuring full compliance with international guidelines, codes, regulations, and standards related to Marine Operations.

Who we are looking for:


  • Holding a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or another related field of study.
  • Preferably possessing a post-graduate degree in management or a business-related discipline, or a senior marine qualification or relevant degree.
  • Minimum of 15-18 years of overall industry work experience, with at least 5 years in a management role (Manager or Dept. Manager) in the marine field; preferably in a dynamic port, shipyard, or equivalent marine or oil & gas industries or services.
  • Preference given to candidates with Saudi & GCC experience.
  • Experience in working with diverse cultures.
  • Recommended to have Marine professional Certificates (such as COC or OOW), and basic STCW Certifications.
  • Additional qualifications such as PMP or Port Operation diploma or NEBOSH are a plus.
  • Demonstrates the ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well-thought-out manner without the need to resort to authority.
  • Possesses well-developed presentation skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage large multi-disciplinary teams across a broad range of technologies.
  • General knowledge of different aspects of dry docking in line with industry standards including class, flag, and other regulatory/statutory requirements.
  • Proven ability to solve operational problems without supervision and deliver effective results to internal clients.
  • Understanding of ERP systems and relevant ISO standards.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) required; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is desirable.
