Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Section Head Design Engineer to lead our mechanical design team for large-scale commercial and industrial projects. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, planning, and execution of complex mechanical systems, with a focus on integrating fire protection and plumbing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of design engineers to develop detailed mechanical sections, including HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing systems
- Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into innovative, code-compliant design solutions
- Conduct thorough analysis of site conditions, building loads, and system requirements to inform the mechanical design process
- Utilize advanced CAD software, BIM modeling, and other design tools to create detailed, high-quality mechanical drawings and specifications
- Review and approve design work produced by the team to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and industry standards
- Identify and resolve mechanical-related issues, coordinate with other disciplines, and provide technical guidance to the team
- Contribute to the development of design standards, templates, and best practices within the organization
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to mechanical systems, fire protection, and plumbing
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 12 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong background in fire protection and plumbing systems
- Proficient in using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software
- Excellent understanding of mechanical systems, building codes, and construction methods
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring design teams
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in leading large-scale, multi-disciplinary mechanical projects, especially in the commercial or industrial sectors
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles, energy-efficient mechanical systems, and LEED certification
- Proficiency in 3D modeling, simulation, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, such as ANSYS, Autodesk CFD, or Solid works Flow Simulation
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, such as Agile, Lean, or Waterfall
- Experience with designing and integrating complex plumbing systems, including knowledge of relevant codes and regulations
