Job description- Overall Purpose of the role
Ensure that the works implemented by the Contractor at site is as per the contract documents, authority regulations and site requirements to perform quality works with high financial efficiency in a timely manner and to meet the projects and clients objectives. The Mechanical Engineer performs tasks assigned independently with minimum guidance from his line manager in full coordination with other disciplines and professional compliance to the office quality management system.
- 1- SITE MANAGEMENT & DELIVERABLES CONSTRUCTION STAGE
· Review the Mechanical drawings, reports, specifications and Materials submitted by the CONTRACTOR(S) at each stage of the Construction to ensure completeness, correctness, compliance with the Scope of WORK and agreements requirements.
· Carry out constructability review during the Design I Construction and modification stages.
· Review in a timely manner the CONTRACTOR(S) and SUB-CONTRACTOR(S) submittals and forward comments to the Resident Engineer/Project manager.
· Ensure the CONTRACTOR(S) incorporate the comments raised from previous stages.
· Capable of evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering techniques and procedures
· Capable of generating technical narratives, engineering analysis and instructions.
· Attend and manage Technical Meetings with the CONTRACTOR(S), Sub-Contractors Team(s).
· Review CONTRACTOR I CONSULTANT I Sub-Consultants, proposed organizational charts and related CV's and report to Resident Engineer/Project manager on his findings.
· Coordinate with the projects Document Controller to ensure that all Documents related to his discipline are properly controlled.
· Review any alternatives to the Design concept submitted by the CONTRACTOR(S) and SUB-CONTRACTOR(S), prepare and submit a report including recommendations to Resident Engineer/Project manager, highlighting advantages and disadvantages of each alternative.
· Review the materials proposed by the CONTRACTOR(S) and SUBCONTRACTOR(S) and propose alternatives to improve the quality, future maintenance, safety and cost effectiveness.
· Degree educated Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
· Eligible for GCC engineering membership.
· Knowledge of local laws and regulations.
· Knowledge in International and Regional Codes & Standards.
· Excellent command of written and spoken English.
· Previous experience of minimum 15
years as Mechanical Engineer in all of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting and LPG
.· 5 years minimum experience on large-sized construction projects.
· Commercial management experience.
· Experienced in managing and coordinating project tasks.
· Review the following activities submitted by the CONTRACTOR(S), as far as related to his discipline, such as but not limited to:
- Change requests.
- Operational issues.
- Procurement status.
- Construction/engineering problems/issues.
- Correspondence.
- Claims.
- Project variations.
- Actions taken to address concerns.
- Progress reports and materials.
