PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer with BIM knowledge, you will be tasked with designing mechanical systems for a variety of construction projects, ensuring seamless integration with architectural and structural elements. Your responsibilities will include using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to develop and coordinate mechanical designs within the overall building plans. Collaboration with architects, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and other stakeholders will be essential to deliver efficient and sustainable mechanical solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, and fire protection systems using industry standards and best practices.
- Utilize BIM software (such as Revit or AutoCAD MEP) to develop and integrate mechanical designs into the overall building model, ensuring coordination with other disciplines to avoid clashes and conflicts.
- Collaborate closely with architects, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and other team members to coordinate mechanical designs with the overall building design and construction process.
- Ensure that mechanical designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, such as ASHRAE, IPC, and NFPA, staying updated with industry developments and changes in mechanical codes.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for mechanical systems, creating detailed models and drawings using BIM software for construction documentation.
- Conduct thermal load calculations, airflow analysis, pipe sizing, and other engineering evaluations to ensure the reliability and efficiency of mechanical systems.
- Design energy-efficient HVAC systems and incorporate sustainable design principles to optimize building performance and reduce environmental impact.
- Identify and resolve design issues and conflicts during the design and construction phases, proposing innovative solutions to optimize mechanical system performance.
- Review and validate mechanical designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality, performing quality checks on BIM models and drawings to maintain consistency and integrity.
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting related to mechanical design activities, coordinating with project managers to meet project deadlines and objectives.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, address concerns, and provide technical support and expertise.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be available to join immediately.
- Must have experience in working for contracting companies.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Proficiency in BIM software, such as Revit, AutoCAD MEP, or similar.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, codes, and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA).
- Experience in mechanical system design for building projects, preferably in commercial, residential, or industrial sectors.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
