John R Harris & Partners Dubai is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team to support recent project appointments in UAE and KSA. The ideal candidate shall be a passionate and result-oriented Mechanical Engineer with minimum 10 years of work experience design and construction supervision of Residential, Commercial and Technical Buildings. The candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills and shall have the ability to work and deliver projects in a collaborative and professional work environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Work with Client's team to understand user requirements.
- Equipment design including Air Handling Units, Computer Room Air Handling Units, Cooling towers, Chillers, Sequence of Operations, Control Systems, Fire Detection/Suppression systems.
- Design and collaborate with other disciplines to create a construction document set.
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate Mechanical equipment.
- Work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases.
- Review Contractor's Mechanical Shop Drawings for their technical compliance and design intent has been understood and implemented in accordance with local laws, rules and regulations.
- Carry out technical reviews of Material submittals to determine that the products, equipment and plant are technically acceptable and in accordance with local authority approvals.
- Carry out Inspections as per the Inspection Requests prepared by the Contractor during various Clearance Stages.
- Monitor site works to ensure activities are in line with the Specifications / approved Method Statements and Engineering Practices and raise Non-Conformance Reports, where required.
- Respond to Contractor's Design related RFIs.
- Review / approve Commissioning / Testing / Balancing Procedures for Compliance with Specifications. Witness / oversee on-site Commissioning of Major Equipment / Systems / Installations.
- Review of O&M Manuals and As-Built Drawings.
- Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's/ Master's degree in mechanical engineering
- 5-10 years works experience in ME region. Preferred candidate to have worked in leading MEP Consultancies.
- Familiarity with Local codes and regulations of Municipality and Civil Defence.
- Understanding of critical facility mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Mission critical facility experience not mandatory but desirable.
- Experience reading and interpreting design, equipment and construction specifications and drawings.
- Understanding of international code requirements.
- Experience with fast-track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
