Description:
In this role, you will provide owners engineer and independent engineering services to clients, including design reviews, technical due diligence, feasibility studies, project development support, and technical risk assessments. This position will require you to analyze power projects and distill technical concepts and information into actionable conclusions and recommendations on which project developers, owners, and financial institutions rely to develop, design, construct, operate, and finance energy projects being built in generally the MENA/CIS region and United States. As the mechanical lead you will also be the responsible engineer in charge of coordinating other disciplines support, managing the engagements budget, being the main point of contact for the Client, and monitoring project work scope. You will work with multi-discipline project teams to provide a variety of services, such as the following:
Advise power project developers to support new thermal (Combined Cycle/CCGT and Cogeneration), desalination (SWRO) projects, and new energy (Hydrogen/Ammonia and CCUS)
Perform owners engineer design reviews of mechanical systems for power and water projects
Participate as mechanical lead in feasibility studies and development support for new power and water projects
Participate in condition assessments of existing power plants
Prepare and review other engineering deliverables such as reports, studies, and calculations
Evaluate new power and infrastructure projects to support financing;
Develop planning studies and business cases for utilities, power producers, and government agencies.
Monitor project schedules and budgets
Conduct multiple projects simultaneously and ensure high standards of deliverables are met
Interface with clients to understand requests and confirm successful project execution
Prepare proposals for new business development opportunities
Travel from time to time to visit project locations and client offices.Qualifications:
This position will be located in the UAE local candidates are preferred.
Essential skills and experience:
This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program with a strong academic background.
10 or more years of experience in the electric power industry, specifically experience in thermal power.
Experience in owners engineering design reviews of electric power projects
Excellent technical communication and writing skills are required.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
An Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering and/or MBA is a plus.
General understanding of power station operations and performance reviews, is a plus.
Familiarity with international design codes and standards is preferred.
Desalination (Sea Water Reverse Osmosis) SWRO is a plus.
MENA / CIS experience with international consultants, procurers, and/or developers is a plus.
