Position Summary:
To work in a multicultural team of Senior Maintenance Technicians and apply specialist mechanical expertise to carry out fault investigations, defect and preventative maintenance, together with modifications on a range of plant.
To ensure plant mechanical equipment is maintained to maximize the reliability and availability of plant utilizing Work Instructions documented in the Maintenance Management System, OEM guidelines and under the instruction of the Mechanical Engineer.
To assist the Mechanical Engineer in ensuring that all mechanical equipment is well maintained and all notifications of planned and unplanned work are completed on time.
Functions/ Task:
Safety at Work
- the compliance of IMS. Ensures a safe working environment for himself, his colleagues and contractors while working on any equipment
- that there is a Permit to Work for each job as necessitated by the safety rules and associated Procedures.
- all Method Statements Work Instruction and Procedures are followed by himself and Contractors while undertaking any work
- that all appropriate tools are available to ensure work can be carried out safely on equipment on all jobs at the plant
- out any unsafe conditions to the Mechanical Engineer or Shift Team Leader.
Maintenance Task Planning and Execution
- all Work Orders generated in CMMS as directed by the Mechanical Engineer
- reports as necessary for the maintenance work done
- that maintenance of all mechanical equipment is in accordance with OEM Manuals
- best practices for the equipment
- Mechanical Maintenance Procedures and suggests improvements
- to full potential and produces high quality of work
Equipment Failure Trouble Shooting and Repair
- the 24-hour operation by being regularly available for call-out at short notice.
- all possible means of reducing equipment downtime and ensuring high Plant availability
- troubleshooting activities as necessary along with the Mechanical Engineer and colleagues to determine failure conditions and rectifies the defects found
- and reports to the Mechanical Engineer all rectification jobs undertaken
- with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with mechanical equipment under the guidance of the Mechanical Engineer.
Reporting and Planning
- planned and unplanned jobs undertaken with the Mechanical Engineer
- the Mechanical Engineer in planning daily jobs.
Use of Tools and Equipment
- appropriate tools and equipment are available at work sites and used while performing any job
- that tools are in a safe and in good working order before use.
- loss of tools or damage to any tools to the Mechanical Engineer
- the Mechanical Engineer of any requirements for tools
