Job Summary:
The MEP Engineer is responsible for the Estimation, design, implementation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in building projects. This role involves coordinating with architects, construction teams, and other stakeholders to ensure MEP systems are integrated effectively, meet project specifications, and comply with relevant codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for MEP systems based on design specifications and project requirements.
- Develop budgets for MEP components and monitor expenditures.
Analyze cost data and prepare reports on cost variances and budget forecasts.- Assist in value engineering processes to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
Develop and review detailed designs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.- Prepare specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
Conduct feasibility studies and site inspections.
- Ensure designs comply with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other project team members to integrate MEP systems into the overall building design.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure MEP installations align with project plans.
Participate in project meetings and provide technical input.
- Installation and Implementation:
Oversee the installation of MEP systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with plans.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during construction.
- Testing and Commissioning:
Develop and implement testing and commissioning plans for MEP systems.
- Verify that all systems function as intended and meet performance requirements.
Address any deficiencies identified during testing and commissioning.
Develop maintenance plans and schedules for MEP systems.- Provide technical support for ongoing operations and maintenance.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of MEP systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Provide regular progress reports to project managers and clients.
Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
- Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in MEP design and implementation.Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other relevant design software.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations related to MEP systems.
