Reports To: Senior Maintenance Manager

Liaise/Cooperate With: NGHC PWEs O&M Team, OEMs, Contractors, APEPC Team, EPMS Team-NGHC EHS Team, GHE O&M & EHS Team.

POSITION SUMMARY

Electrical Engineer BESS shall be responsible to support and enable a reliable & efficient operation and maintenance of 450MW Battery Energy Storge System (BESS) in NEOM region. The main objective to ensure safe, reliable & efficient operation of BESS plant by ensuring the safety of plant personnel and plant assets.

NATURE & SCOPE

The main functions of this position are:

• Must possess expert-level technical, electrical engineering management skills and knowledge in BESS Plant Electrical engineering, Operations and Maintenance tasks, along with excellent communication and influencing skills. He shall assure interfaces extensively with external and internal parties on engineering and technical matters.
• Support the Operation & Maintenance of BESS plant systems.
• Actively participate in plant O&M activities, Commissioning activities & safety compliance workshops.
• Enthusiastic to propose the Continuous improvement suggestion to keep elevating & enabling the best plant O&M practices.
• Proactively develop system and practices to encourage continuous workflow improvements and increase the asset productivity and efficiency.
• Regularly Organize the workshops to discuss the critical issues with proposed solution as per performed Root cause analysis or revised OEM recommendation.
• Participate in EPC contractor site installation, testing and commissioning activities from O&M perspective

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

• Ensure that the team be able to monitor, maintained & restore BESS systems i.e., batteries, Inverters and associated systems within the minimum time frame by performing necessary, appropriate & correct troubleshooting methods in line with OEM recommendations.
• Assist Construction & QC with inspection and punch lists of installation and vendor packages.
• Review mechanical completion for systems and sub-systems packages.
• Organise and document pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures and participate in system performance testing.
• Review and ensure that the TurnOver Packages / Final Documentation is complete from maintenance perspective.
• Develop the plant operation and maintenance procedures and work instructions based on OEM manuals, standard industry practice.
• Identify & develop the operational and strategic spares for the smooth and reliable operation of the plant.
• Develop the technical scope of work for contractors or services providers.
• Extend his support & supervise his team closely to enable & ensure that the best O&M practices are being followed & well executed.
• Enhanced the Maintenance planning & scheduling by considering the availability of resources (Tools, Equipment's & Manpower) & their distribution in best possible way to optimise the maintenance time & cost.
• Responsible to propose continuous improvement programme, which is contributing to wards safe, reliable, productive & cost-effective O&M practices.
• Responsible to organize & participate in the root cause analysis workshop for any plant issues.
• Responsible to generate comprehensive incident reports for any events occur in the plant coordination in coordination with operation team.
• Responsible to propose & execute the approved continuous improvement programme, which is contributing to wards safe, reliable, productive & cost-effective O&M practices.
• Conducting Monthly review meeting with operation teams to retrospect & discuss the O&M philosophy & performance key points.
• Coordinate & provide the necessary data & documents to Engineering team for analysis & review whenever requested.
• Supervise & support the commissioning activities to be performed in compliance with approved procedures, method statements & risk assessment. Raise the punch point if any compliance deviated from its actual standards.
• Perform frequent surprise site audit to verify that the O&M practices are being performed rightly by site team as per standard procedures.
• Familiar & guide the operation team for effective usage of the Plant CMMS system to build the historical data base for real analytics.
• Expert in identify & resolving the plant issues related to maintenance, operations & performance.
• Proactively work for the monitoring the asset condition and recommend his manager about any corrective measures or life enhancement strategies.
• Deep understanding of electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Good knowledge to work with a variety of instruments such as gauge, transmitter, transducers, indicators, recorders, and controllers.

Team Management & Training:

• Encourage & guide the team to wards best O&M deliverables & how company objective is aligned with each individual employee objective.
• Ensure the team engagement in all training programme as per company training matrix.

Warranty Management:

• Responsible for generating warranty claims of any defect to various suppliers under warranty period.
• Ensure required information; data & documents has been well maintained & timely submitted to supplier if requested.

Spare Part Management:

• Ensure that the spare part storage condition has been maintained in accordance with OEM storage condition recommendations.
• Keep close eye on critical spare part & consumable availability in warehouse to avoid any down time or delay in equipment restoration/maintenance due to absence of spare part at site.

Reporting Matrix & Documentation:

• Regularly audit the Maintenance team in order check & ensure that relevant documents records are well maintained in line with O&M agreement & OEM recommendations.
• Responsible to properly managing the plant maintenance records.
• Immediately report any plant issues to his line manager and concerned department as per communication matrix within the time frame along with possible root cause, restoration plan & future preventive/ predictive actions plan.

HSSE:

• Ensure the O&M team & sub-contractors/ suppliers obtained PTW for each job and monitor them onsite for HSE compliances mitigations.
• Engage with site team for identification of new hazards from ongoing tasks or any new task.
• Participate/ Assist to review/ revise the task risk assessment (TRA) time to time.
• Participate actively in emergency response plan as per approved ERP.
• Support in executing the emergency response drills.
• Assist when needed in the HSE incidents/ accident investigation.
• Ensures PTW's for all activities are issued as per approved WMSRA/ PTW/LOTO system.
• Ensures the isolations/ deisolation and LOTO applications are applied as per SLD/ switching sequence.
• Control and manage site EHS conditions by imposing and applying NGHC-EHS policies and procedures.
• Verify the isolation & LOTO procedure for critical maintenance activities.

SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS:

• Professional in Microsoft Operating System (MS office).
• In depth knowledge of Electrical/electronic engineering and good knowledge of Mechanical components in BESS Plant systems.
• Leadership skill, negotiation skills, proactively managing the team of operators.
• Must be able to describe the Plant Performance Issues in short & effective way.
• Good Knowledge of BESS Inverters System, Substation Operation & Maintenance preferably HV/MV GIS substation.
• Advanced analytical, technical skills and knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as instrumentation & Electrical testing equipment.
• Deliverables on Time, Leadership & Adaptability: - Be Enthusiastic & energetic to provide required deliverable within the time frame with quality standard.
• Equipment Protection relay analysis skills, Understanding of fault report & fault logs.
• Understanding of BESS system Electrical system protection & its set points.
• Awareness of Power Plant Controller.
• Lead & guide his team in line with company objectives & deliverables.
• Specialized in MV/HV system Operations, Switching sequence preparations, Plant Performance report preparation & analytics.
• He must have a Sound knowledge on electrical system such as Power Transformers, Substation (GIS), Inverters, RMUs, PV- technology etc.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• A bachelor's degree in electrical or Electromechanical Engineering with minimum 5+ years of experience in a BESS plant capacity greater & equal to 100MW.
• He must have a Sound knowledge on electrical system such as Power Transformers, BESS system, Substation (GIS), Inverters, RMUs, BESS- technology etc.
