Job Purpose:
An Occupational Therapist is a qualified health care professional who is responsible for assessment, intervention, program planning and implementation, discharge planning and carrying out related documentation using systematic clinical reasoning and decision making. Occupational therapists are experts in analyzing the performance skills and patterns necessary for people to engage in their everyday activities in the context in which those activities and occupations occur. The occupational therapist assumes responsibility for the delivery of all occupational therapy services and for the safety and effectiveness of occupational therapy services provided.
Key Accountabilities:
- To provide occupational therapy expertise in the area of rehabilitation and recovery throughout the Naufar journey for Patients. From the first contact with Naufar, in the functional units, to re-engagement in society and in sustaining recovery.
- To collaborate with Patients (And families as appropriate) in regaining self direction and in reengaging in important roles in their lives.
- Provide occupational therapy assessment, planning, interventions and review with Patients
- Provide individual occupational therapy sessions for Patients with a focus on: regaining self-direction; developing coping strategies and daily living skills in areas of self-care, productivity, leisure and rest; planning re-engagement in roles and society; and lifestyle restructuring
- This includes time management, stress coping and management, focusing on important role development and in accessing educational and occupational opportunities in the community
- To provide community based services, including home and environment
- assessment, and community based rehabilitation sessions as required
- Provide group based occupational therapy interventions as part of the overall programs of the Clinical units
- Provide group based interventions focusing on engagement, psychoeducation, recovery knowledge and coping strategies
- Provide group based interventions to re-engage in social and occupational opportunities and to develop life skills
- Provide patient-centered and OT-based interventions (group and individual-based) in preparation for return to educational and occupational roles
- In conjunction with other psychosocial disciplines, and Naufar's community and international relations liaison, to liaise with appropriate educational and occupational agencies on behalf of Patients as required.
- To provide expertise in recovery and rehabilitation when working with Naufar's services to develop therapeutic programs, by working directly with MDT leads and colleagues.
- Development, remediation, or compensation of physical, cognitive, neuromuscular, sensory functions and behavioral skills.
- Training in self-care, self-management, home management and community/work reintegration. Health and wellness promotion to enable or enhance performance.
- Maintenance and enhancement of performance capabilities in everyday life activities. Prevention of barriers to performance, including disability prevention.
- Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program by World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).
- Or Three year (3) Diploma in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program by World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).
- Or Entry level Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program by World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT)
Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid Primary license from the country of origin as an Occupational Therapist.
- Eligible for license from the Licensing authority in the State of Qatar to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
- Up-to date CPD in relevant areas
Professional Experience:
- Overseas: 2 years in Occupational Therapy.
- 0 experience for Qataris and residents of Qatar who Graduates from Qatar institutions and successfully completed the internship.
- Applicants with a Bachelor Degree, Diploma or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from a non-WFOT accredited program will be required to have 5 years post qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist.
- Multidisciplinary experience in psychosocial, mental health or medical field
