Purpose:
Ensure the safe and efficient execution of Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) installation, maintenance, and repair works, including supervision of all associated construction activities and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Accountabilities:
Supervision and Execution:
- Oversee line crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electric transmission systems.
- Ensure safe and efficient execution of OHTL installation-related works.
- Supervise various construction tasks including tower foundation works (Pile/Pad Chimney), grounding, tower assembly, erection, and conductor/OPGW stringing for voltage levels from 110kV to 380kV.
- Conduct inspections for tower torque tightening works and ensure compliance with client requirements.
Technical Proficiency:
- Read and understand foundation design drawings, Tower Shop/Erection drawings, and the approved Structure List drawings.
- Execute sagging works as per approved sag charts, including mid-span jointing, dead-end jointing, conductor/OPGW clipping, spacer installation, jumping, and termination tasks.
- Supervise and coordinate tasks such as OPGW down-lead installation, splicing, installation of joint boxes, and termination of OPGW in the ODF inside the OFMR.
Quality Control and Safety:
- Maintain high standards of quality control and enforce strict adherence to safety procedures.
- Train and mentor line-workers to uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
Site Management:
- Control and closely monitor site operations, including resource allocation and task assignment to manpower.
- Assist in site inspections, soil investigations, and soil resistivity measurements as directed by the Site Engineer/Manager.
- Provide regular project updates to site engineers, managers, and other stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure the construction of access roads and structure pads as per project requirements.
- Clear all punch points and ensure completion of entire installation work before energizing the line.
- Coordinate with site engineers for efficient project execution and client satisfaction.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in OHTL/Substation transmission line work.
- Proven ability to manage physical demands of the job.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and coordination skills.
- Experience in supervising high-voltage equipment installation and construction works.
Education and Certifications:
- Vocational training or a diploma in the electrical field.
