Business Need / Purpose of Role
The Operations Supervisor - Port Agency reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager - Marine Services, based out of Sohar, Oman shall be responsible to manage Marine Services Operations, continually driving service quality and effectiveness while ensuring sustained commercial growth in business. Actively manage resources and processes related to the Operations Services provided by Inchcape.
Objectives & Measurement Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing all Operational activities and resources while ensuring compliance within the assigned territory.
- Ensure Marine Service Performance and Service Quality compliance per Standards of Operations.
- Ensure that standards of services provided are continuously maintained and improved. E.g. reporting format, contents and frequency.
- Pro-actively identify new means of achieving cost savings, including vendor discounts on behalf of the principal and the Company.
- Selecting and appointing vendors and suppliers, while ensuring compliance with Finance - Procurement governance, as well as Inchcape supplier agreements and Supplier Code of Conduct.
- Proactively identifying new business and sales opportunities within the Territory.
- Ensure sales leads and opportunities generated in the territory are follow up and Customers are contacts/visited to increase port revenue.
- Ensure that correct amount of pre-funding is received, or the correct level of authority has approved any deviation, prior to performing the Port Call, in line with the Chart of Authority.
- Oversee efficient Disbursement Accounts production and maintain close working relationship with the local Financial Management.
- Actively promote the use of, and review of; CAR Log, lessons learned, improvements and suggestions.
- Provide training and assistance in operating IT applications and day-day operations.
- QHSSE matters in own function, including PPE requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Competent user of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Being able to communicate verbally/writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Balance multiple tasks, changing priorities & operate within a deadline-oriented environment.
- Good interpersonal relationship in managing people/sub-ordinates, planning, organizing.
- Excellent attention to minute details.
- Self-driven, organized, and excellent coordination ability.
- Strong Problem Solving & Analytical Skills.
- Excellent Time Management Skills.
- Having a global perspective and possess a progressive thinking skill.
Education, Qualifications, Certifications, And Licenses
- 3 - 5 years relevant experience of working within a customer service center in the marine / shipping services industry .
- Having a good knowledge of Port / Shipping operations within the local middle east territory.
- Working knowledge of operating and / or CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems.
- Experience of working to pre-defined processes and procedures and delivering work in accordance to SLA (Service Level Agreements).
- A relevant academic qualification shall be desirable.
