JOB OBJECTIVES (SUMMARY OF OVERALL JOB PURPOSE)
Responsible for Identification and design of piping systems for new built vessels such as offshore platforms, rigs,
oil tankers, bulk carriers, passenger vessels, small vessels etc. as well as providing engineering support for major
conversion projects such as FPSO, FSO.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Policies, Processes & Procedures:
Implement approved departmental policies, processes, procedures and provide instructions to subordinates
and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner
Ensure employees are aware and follow the information Security Rules and data security measures in order
to protect the company information / intellectual properties.
Day- to-day operations:
Identify, select and design piping systems for various new build projects.
Undertake design and verification of calculations, as required.
Generate P&ID's, PFD's and operations procedures etc.
Prepare class and statutory documentation.
Prepare piping layout drawings (modelling) as input for production design.
Witness factory acceptance tests and attend dock trials and sea trials.
Participate in design reviews and take necessary follow up actions.
Write technical specifications for shipboard equipment.
Carry out a technical review of quotations provided by the Project Manager or NB Estimation and make
recommendations on the technical suitability of each.
Implement the day-to-day operations assigned for the engineering department/section to ensure compliance
with the established standards and procedures
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of processes and practices taking
into account international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity
improvement.
Reporting:Prepare departmental reports on time and accurately to meet company and department requirements,
policies and standards

or other safety concerns
STOP any worker performing an unsafe act and reinforce positive attitude amongst work force

3. KEY COMPETENCIES
Language skills:
Must be fluent in English.
Knowledge of additional languages are added advantage
Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills.
Technical competencies:
Fully trained and knowledgeable with relevant Safety and Occupational Health & Safety standards.
Design Marine Piping system, including development of PFD, P&ID and Principle Layout drawings
Perform Pipe sizing, thickness design and hydraulic calculations for marine piping systems
Prepare specifications and data sheets for Marine system packages
Verify 3rd party design, calculations, specifications as required for the project
Prepare piping layout drawings (including modelling) as input for production design.
Participate in design reviews with client / contractors and take necessarily follow up actions.
Support in preparation and review of technical specifications for Hull/Marine equipment packages.
Carry out a technical review of vendor offers for Hull/Marine packages and make recommendations on the
technical suitability of each.
Implement the day-to-day operations assigned for the engineering department/section to ensure compliance
with the established standards and procedures
Broad knowledge of designing of piping systems in basic, detail and production stages for systems of marine
offshore platforms etc.
Strong background with resolution of technical issues during projects planning and execution phases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical
Engineering or equivalent. Master's Degree in relevant field
Training
Proficient with software such as
AutoCAD R14 or later version
Project Management
Experience
8 - 10 years relevant experience in
Shipyard, Ship design Consultants or
Marine systems engineering Office.
Working experience in FPSO, FSO,
FSU or FSRU conversion projects is
added advantage.

Working conditions (Indoor /outdoor):
Site visits required as deemed necessary and able to work in the Middle East summer weather conditions.
