Marsh Advisory Team are seeking candidates for the following position based in the Dubai or Abu Dhabi:
Power Risk Engineer
The role will be heavily client facing, surveying client's power generation assets, producing risk assessments, loss estimates and conducting training and benchmarking exercises. The role offers the opportunity to interact with senior client staff in Risk Management, Operations and Engineering functions. The ability to communicate to all organisational levels is a critical competency. For newly recruited Risk Engineers, Marsh offers a six month training and development programme.
We will rely on you to:
- Standard risk engineering surveys: This is the base offering of Marsh Risk Engineering and it is crucial to successful placement of insurance within the Power industry. A survey consists of a typically 2-3 day visit to a client facility, interviews with key management teams and site tours. The output is an engineering report which details;
- Description of the site operations,
- An analysis of Loss Prevention/Mitigation features
- A ranking of the quality of the site and recommendations for improvement
- Estimation of property damage, often using our bespoke modelling software
- The role will also involve carrying out risk assessments of operational power plants and reviews of new projects for Marsh's power clients.
- The position will also support the Power Broking team in placing risks in international insurance markets.
- Manage and develop re: Engineering Management System.
What you need to have:
- Mechanical, Electrical or Power Systems Engineering Degree.
- 10-15 years minimum experience in the following areas: Management and execution of new thermal power plant projects with a principal contractor, OEM or plant owner; Oversight and delivery of equipment overhauls and inspections of thermal power plant turbomachinery (gas turbines, aeroderivative gas turbines, steam turbines, turbine generators); Responsible as a leader in the operations and maintenance of thermal power plants; Experience in the execution and/or the operation and maintenance of renewable energy resources / Energy from Waste would be beneficial.
- Mechanical, Electrical or Power Systems Engineering Degree.
- Combination of Middle East (majority) and world-wide travel required (typically 70-90 days per year).
- Ability to service existing and prospective business requirements in Pakistan.
- Proficient in English language (speaking, reading and writing).
- IT literacy to include general office systems such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint (or similar).

- Certified Accountant Qualification.
