What the role entails
The Account Manager - Public Relations oversees a portfolio of large client accounts, leading the delivery of PR services to support and enhance their brands. Key responsibilities include:
Client Management: Handle multiple large client accounts, aligning PR strategies with project plans and targets.
Strategic Guidance: Serve as the primary contact for strategic PR advice, issue resolution, and excellent client service.
Campaign Development: Create and implement innovative PR plans and campaigns using industry insights.
Project Oversight: Set project plans, delegate tasks to junior team members, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
Content Review: Edit press releases, pitch emails, social media content, and other materials, tailoring them to specific audiences and platforms.
Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and key industry contacts; manage media entertainment.
Pitching & Queries: Pitch press releases and features to media; respond to journalist inquiries.
Event Management: Organise and oversee press launches and client events, ensuring smooth execution.
Team Leadership: Coach and provide feedback to junior team members; oversee account reporting and campaign evaluations.
Budget & Business Development: Contribute to project budgets, manage costs, and drive business development through client relationships and new business pitches.
Administration: Manage client account administration, including contracts, invoicing, and reporting.
Collaboration & Development: Foster team collaboration, engage in professional development through Qcademy, and stay updated on industry trends to maintain a competitive edge.
Who you are
Ideally you will have:
A recognised tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Digital Marketing.
At least 4-5 years agency experience in similar role.
In-depth knowledge and experience with the local media landscape.
Proven experience in leading and collaborating within a team to deliver client services.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with excellent presentation abilities.
A creative flair and demonstrated ability to produce engaging PR content.
Strong knowledge and experience with various social media platforms.
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, journalists, and other stakeholders.
Exceptional client service skills with a proven ability to manage a busy client portfolio effectively.
Experience in managing projects, meeting deadlines, and adhering to budgets and targets.
Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent organisational abilities, with experience leading a team under competing priorities without compromising quality.
High resilience in handling client requests and competing priorities, with the ability to model this behavior for junior team members.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated professionalism, including punctuality, presentation, responsiveness, and reliability.
A strong desire for continuous learning and professional growth.
Commitment to staying updated on industry trends and sharing knowledge with colleagues through mentoring and peer learning.
