WSP Middle East is looking for an experienced and results-oriented Principal Engineer or Associate-level Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in UAE.
Your new role, what's involved
Lead and manage fire protection engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Develop conceptual and detailed designs for fire protection systems, including fire sprinklers, standpipes, hydrants, and other fire suppression systems, considering client requirements and applicable codes and standards. Conduct site assessments and surveys to evaluate existing fire protection systems and identify areas for improvement or upgrade.
Prepare technical specifications, drawings, calculations, and reports for fire protection system designs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Review of contractors submittal including shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements, and provide technical guidance and support to the supervision team.
Collaborate with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate fire protection systems seamlessly into building designs.
Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and BIM modelers, reviewing their work and offering feedback to ensure quality and accuracy.
Stay updated on industry developments, emerging technologies, and changes to codes and standards related to fire protection engineering, and incorporate relevant advancements into project designs.
Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other project stakeholders to address technical queries, resolve issues, and ensure project requirements are met.
Participate in meetings, presentations, and discussions with clients and project teams to communicate project status, technical solutions, and recommendations effectively.
Foster a culture of safety within the team and promote adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards throughout project execution.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
10-15 years experience in Fire Protection Engineering, preferably within the Middle East Region.
Eng. preferred although not essential.
Experienced in both design and construction supervision.
Lead the technical development and production of fire protection designs in accordance with regional and international code requirements.
Strong technical, communication, and presentation skills with clients, local authorities, consultants, contractors, and internal/external multidisciplinary project teams, and be prepared to adjust and cope in different environments with enthusiasm.
Able to undertake detailed fire protection compliance reviews based on local and international standards.
Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) is preferred although not essential.
Certified Water-Based Systems Professional (CWBSP) preferred although not essential.
Member of NFPA preferred although not essential.
Experience in local and international fire codes.

Qatar Fire Safety Standards.
KSA Fire Code
Experience in Hydraulic Calculation and proficiency in the use of HASS or Elite soft.
Experienced user of Microsoft Office is essential.
Proficient in the use of Navisworks, and BIM 360.
Proficient in the use of Autodesk CAD, and Revit although not essential.
