Principal Fire Protection Engineer
Overall Summary
Technical Advisor Fire Protection, Fire & Gas detection, Process Safety studies with experience in the design of Fire Protection system, Fire & Gas detection system, Process Safety Studies, utilities and offsite facilities at the conceptual, FEED, or detailed design stage of medium to large size projects. Knowledge of process safety & Fire engineering practices, economics principles, calculation methods, international standards, codes, specifications, and procedures. Minimum 15 years experience in Oil & Gas, Hydrocarbons, and/or Infrastructure industries. Excellent communication skills required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Minimum 15 years of experience in Engineering companies for design of upstream Oil and Gas Plant facilities and Petrochemical Facilities.
Develop fire water basis of design report, fire water and foam water demand calculations.
Prepare P&IDs for Fire water network, Foam water system, Fire water pumps & tanks and Fire water coverage layouts, Fire hazardous area layouts, Electrical area classification layouts, Fire risk area drawings,
Prepare Fire protection equipment data sheets & specifications, Safety equipment data sheets & Specifications and Fire hazardous equipment schedule.
Perform Steady State Hydraulic calculations & Transient analysis for Fire water network, Foam water system and Water spray system.
Preparation of Fire & Gas Philosophy, Fire & Gas detection layouts, Block diagram, Cause and Effect diagrams and 3-D Mapping studies.
Preparation of Emergency escape routes, Safety sign layouts, Safety shower layouts and Safety equipment layouts (SCBA, SABA, windsocks, extinguishers).
Prepare Third party scope of Works such as EIA, PHA etc., technical bid evaluations, review vendor non-material requisitions.
Participating and reviewing reports for safety studies like PrHA, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, BRA, QRA, Consequences modeling and prepare actions close outs.
Prepare MTOs and Construction scope of work documents.
Attend the 3D model reviews.
Develop process safety discipline budgets and review proposals with estimate manhours.

Qualifications & Years of Experience:
Minimum Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Fire Engineering, or related field, and a minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience.
Key Skills & Technical Competencies:
Sound knowledge of basic engineering principles, P&ID/PFD development, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, safety devices
Experience in Hydraulics Software (e.g. Pipenet, Elite)
Strong written and verbal communication abilities to work both within a team and independently.
Handle Work Group Leader activities.
Familiarity with the International Fire Code, NFPA Standards, Saudi Aramco engineering standards and procedures and Saudi Building Code.
Ability to handle responsibility and complete projects within schedule.
Must be proficient in English, oral and written.
Excellent technical presentation skills required.
Preferred relevant Registration / certifications Such as Professional Engineer (P.E), CFPS, HAZOP, Functional safety and SCE.
