Purpose
The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the process team for the process design, operation, implementation, and commissioning of Power Plant. The job purpose is mainly to understand and improve industrial processes to increase efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability/reliability, and maximize profitability for JIGPC facilities in Jazan, Saudi Arabia.
Nature & Scope
The Process Engineer, reporting to Lead Process Engineer, provides support to the Lead Process Engineer in accelerating the commissioning activities from Power Plant Process side with proactive approach in looking ahead to the planned activities. The role identifies productive ideas, develops projects, and supports the project execution team in implementation of MOCs for the Power facility
Safety
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain a safe work environment. Demonstrate leadership with all company & industry safe work processes to prevent all types of injuries. Ensure proper documentation is maintained for safety related activities.
Engineering
- Provide technical guidance, working with the commissioning team, assisting in the commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
- Support and participate in all commissioning activities including Commissioning Engineering Support, Commissioning and Startup Procedure Review and Pre-Startup Safety Review.
- Support reviews of process safety hazards prior to startup including providing input for reviewing Safety Integrity Level(SIL) assessments and Layer Of Protection Analysis;
- Support field validation of SIS and DCS systems with Control and Process Control engineers;
- Help support control room operations during first start-up to guide Operations and ensure safe startup;
- Provide engineering support to identify the performance gaps, troubleshoot problems, and develop solutions to resolve plant operating issues.
Develop and perform the performance testing program for the facility following successful startup.
- Provide technical support for developing and driving improvements to meet financial targets.
- Provide process safety support, including technical and safety reviews for changes to the plant.
- Provide effective interfaces with technical functions in other departments and operations.
- Support development and execution of minor projects and plant modifications and expansions.
- Provide engineering technical support to maintain safe, efficient, smooth, and reliable plant operations of the plant.
- Perform process simulations as needed.
- Provide support in process documentation and operating instructions.
- Provide technical support to the Operations team providing guidance for the operation of the facilities and units as prescribed by the Work Instruction Procedures.
- Provide process safety support in the developing and reviewing of Management of Change Notices. Coordinate with engineering departments and EPC process safety personnel as required for technical support.
- Provide technical support & guidance during the commissioning of the plants. Assist Operations in maintaining accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives.
- Provide technical support to ensure the safe and reliable operation of equipment, processes, utilities, and controls is achieved.
- Participating in troubleshooting activities for Root Cause Investigations and technical reviews as required.
- Provide process guidance for advanced control initiatives.
- Ensure the facility under commissioning is operated not to exceed Environmental and Regulatory requirements.
- Provides process engineering leadership to drive asset performance which includes, troubleshooting, plant efficiency, process safety, equipment reliability, advanced controls, asset management and productivity project identification, development, and execution support.
- Participate in the training of the Operations team up to plant commissioning.
- Provide process engineering support to the operations to effectively operate the facilities and units to meet the customer's satisfaction on safety, reliability, product quality, and flexibility of product supply while in compliance of contractual requirements.
- Support & maintain close working relationships with engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel to continuously monitor & evaluate plant systems & equipment.
- Provide technical support for Advanced Controls initiatives.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering with 10 years experience in Engineering, Process or Power Plant Operations in a technical role.
- Detailed know-how of whole Combined Cycle Power Plant steam system, design & philosophy
- Good operating knowledge to understand the pre-requirements of start-up, shut down, and impacts of load variations.
- Experience in execution of Reliability Run Test Programs previously.
- Experience in Commissioning of Power Plant from Process side.
- Also understand the requirements of process safety systems, including relief devices, and safety instrumented systems.
- Experience on specifically SIEMENS Gas Turbines, HRSGs, Steam Turbines and any safety Certification (NEBOSH, IOSH) would be a plus.
- GULF experience will be preferred.
- Balanced multi-discipline understanding in process engineering, DCS controls, process safety and equipment design.
- Effective communication skills and a willingness to seek out cross-functional technical expertise as required, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
