The team:
AI71 is an applied research team dedicated to creating helpful and responsible AI agents for knowledge workers.
Working closely with our industry partners, our cross-functional teams of AI experts build products grounded in the cutting-edge research of our colleagues from the Technology Innovation Institute (TII).
About the role:
This role will lead design efforts for developing industry-leading AI software using cutting-edge research breakthroughs.
In this role, you will be partnering with other x-fn colleagues to identify and deliver new product and experience opportunities, to craft a compelling product experience vision that delights users and meets business needs, leveraging the power of generative AI and your imagination. You'll work at the leading edge of innovation, making big bets. The nature of this role will be entrepreneurial, innovative, creative, and strategically critical.

Job responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Execution:
- Design high-quality product experiences from concept to completion.
- Create user journeys, mockups, prototypes, storyboards, and presentations to effectively communicate ideas and help your team try them out before they build them.
- Contribute to UX patterns within an evolving design system.
- Balance design considerations such as functionality, sustainability, reliability, human factors, feasibility, and aesthetics.
- Ensure UI consistency aligned with our brand identity, making deliberate design choices and upholding a standard of excellence in product delivery.
Leadership and x-fn collaboration:
- Build strong relationships and influence with stakeholders.
- Partner with product managers to define product roadmaps that help the entire team focus and motivate.
- Partner with user researchers to better inform designs through users point of view
- Partner with engineers to build, iterate on, and ship concepts. Follow your work from ideation to landing.
- Present work regularly to stakeholders to facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Promote design comprehension and sensibility across the organization, refining work methodologies and design processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
About you
Required Qualifications (what you should have):
- 4+ years of experience in Product Design including in all or some of the following: UX design, UI design, project management, 0-to-1 products, front-end development, product marketing, and Communications Design.
- A solid base of engineering and AI fundamentals.
- Entrepreneurial work experience in a high-growth or startup environment.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Track record of taking products from inception to launch at scale across consumer, enterprise, or developer audiences.
Preferred experience (it would be awesome if you also had these):
- Thrives within an incubation environment, strategically prioritizing multiple projects while collaborating across functions and organizations.
- Strong portfolio of thoughtfully designed products, including complex applications for enterprise audiences.
- Specialization in interaction design and product thinking, with solid visual design skills and experience playing a role in lightweight prototyping and user research.
- Fluency with visual and interaction design tools (Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, and/or other design tools).
