Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Product Owner to join our dynamic product management
team, specifically focusing on accounting solutions. The Product Owner will be responsible for
collaborating with product managers to define and maintain the product backlog, gather accounting-
specific requirements, conduct research, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-
quality accounting software products that meet user needs and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial processes, and compliance
requirements, translating this expertise into refined product requirements and user stories.
Own and manage the product backlog specifically for accounting solutions, prioritizing features and user
stories based on their impact on financial operations and customer needs.
Ensure that the accounting software products align with relevant regulatory standards such as GAAP,
IFRS, and local tax regulations, incorporating compliance considerations into product planning and
feature development.
Drive the development of features that facilitate financial reporting and analysis, leveraging accounting
software to empower users with accurate and insightful financial information.
Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders, accounting experts, and customers to understand
their needs and relay accounting-specific requirements and product updates.
Collaborate with security and compliance teams to integrate robust data security and privacy measures
into accounting solutions, ensuring the protection of sensitive financial information.
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to gather and refine product requirements,
translating them into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
Conduct user research, gather feedback from stakeholders, and analyze market trends to inform backlog
prioritization and feature development decisions.
Work closely with design, development, and quality teams to ensure a shared understanding of product
requirements and successful implementation.
Participate in release planning, aligning the product backlog with the product roadmap and company
objectives, coordinating with development teams as needed.
Define acceptance criteria and conduct acceptance testing to ensure that implemented features meet
the defined requirements and deliver the intended value to users.
Conduct product demonstrations to stakeholders, including customers and internal teams, gathering
feedback on implemented features and insights for future backlog refinement.
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint reviews and retrospectives, identifying
opportunities for process improvements and team efficiency.
Stay informed about market trends, competitor products, and industry best practices, continuously
seeking opportunities to enhance the product's value proposition.
Monitor and track product metrics specifically related to accounting, such as reconciliation accuracy,
reporting efficiency, and compliance adherence, leveraging data to drive continuous improvement.
Monitor and track product metrics related to user engagement, feature adoption, and customer
satisfaction, contributing to data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
Identify and assess potential risks to successful product delivery, taking proactive measures to mitigate
risks and ensure successful product releases.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role with a focus on Agile product development in the
accounting or financial software domain.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes, with the ability to translate
accounting expertise into product requirements.
Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GAAP, IFRS, and tax regulations and their implications on
accounting software products.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to gather and interpret data to drive product decisions and
continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-
functional teams and stakeholders.
Education
Bachelors or master's degree in accounting, finance, business, computer science, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as CPA or CFA are a plus.
