Job Summary:
The Production Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, managing, and optimising production schedules to ensure smooth and timely operations. This role requires an analytical individual who can lead a team to gather and verify real-time production data, compare planned versus actual outputs, and coordinate production processes. Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies to support continuous improvement and process efficiency is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop detailed production schedules, assign technical packs to machines, and ensure all production phases are efficiently planned. Monitor and adjust schedules to meet production targets.
- Comparative Analysis: Track and compare planned production against actual outputs. Identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures for continuous improvement, using Six Sigma principles where applicable.
- Team Coordination and Leadership: Lead a team responsible for coordinating production tasks and ensuring that technical packs are correctly placed on each machine. Train the team in effective data collection practices.
- Data Management and Reporting: Collect detailed production data, such as machine output and worker performance. Prepare and present reports to the Production Manager, Managing Director, and Chairman. Experience with data analysis tools and applying Six Sigma approaches to enhance data-driven insights is a plus.
- Real-Time Data Collection: Establish a hands-on approach for gathering real-time data directly from the production floor, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Production Efficiency Tracking: Track machine productivity, worker output, and on-time delivery rates. Use data analysis to make timely adjustments that enhance efficiency.
- Problem Solving and Adjustments: Proactively identify potential scheduling conflicts and production issues, implementing data-supported solutions to optimize workflow.
- Collaboration: Work with the merchandise team to gather detailed order requirements for accurate lead time estimations and coordinate with the production manager for operational alignment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in production planning, with strong experience in data analysis within a manufacturing environment.
- Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems and data analysis tools. Experience with scheduling software is an advantage.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to train and lead a team.
- Work Style: Comfortable balancing office-based tasks with production floor visits for real-time coordination.
