Job Description

Position Objectives:

The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end implementation, monitoring, control, and closeout of assigned IP/MPLS and DWDM upgrade Projects and Tasks for the CN project assigned as per implementation standards and agreed schedule.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Work with stakeholders to develop an overall project plan that covers timelines, budgets, personnel, and resources needed to complete the project. Coordinate with other departments and contractors, scheduling site visits, and ensuring that project deadlines are being met.
  • Risks and Dependencies: Identify, manage and mitigate risks and dependencies with other network domain implementation activities to ensure program milestone completion on schedule and within budget.
  • Technical Oversight: Ensure that the equipment, systems, and software used in the IP/MPLS and DWDM upgrades meet the design specifications and that they are installed and configured correctly. This includes reviewing technical drawings, testing equipment and systems, and ensuring that new installations meet design standards and operate optimally.
  • Personnel Management: Manage Vendor and in-house resources to ensure that everyone is completing their tasks on time and to the expected level of quality. This includes assigning tasks and monitoring progress, providing feedback managing team performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of project progress, including detailed notes on technical designs, installation plans, revised project timelines, and other relevant information. This documentation will be shared with stakeholders, including project sponsors, clients, and contractors.
  • Reporting: Ensure project reports are produced, maintained and updated as per the direction of the Senior Project Manager. Collaborate with PMO control and reporting as needed to provide input to PMO reporting and dashboards.
  • Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with stakeholders throughout the duration of the project, providing project updates, addressing concerns and questions, and liaising with different teams involved in the project.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all components meet quality standards set by the industry and the client. Follow, execute, or implement quality assurance procedures accordingly. Manage and supervise the Vendor's implementation according to quality processes.
  • Expert Support: Provide domain-specific expertise to facilitate problem identification and resolution during implementation and acceptance.
  • Acceptance: Acceptance test case reviews, validation and result verification ensure compliance with contract scope of features and functionality.
  • ATP Supervision: On-site supervision and witnessing of acceptance testing ensuring ATP procedures according to the project requirements.
  • Project planning and delivery fulfillment for long distance & fixed network as needed for the project.
  • Vendor delivery and as-built validation and confirmation, and validation of ATP completion and results prior to Operations take-over.
  • Resources & team setup (management and development).
  • Supervise Project preparation for project life cycle implementation and reviews.
  • Integrate the efforts of the PMO team and technical team.
  • Carry out solution team proposals with customers.
  • Project Risk and Contract Penalty Management.
  • Project Management for Network IP Migration.
  • Project team leading with vendors of IP/MPLS and DWDM long distance Transmission network.
  • Project management for DWDM Fiber network, implementation and integration with Access & core networks.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.Sc. degree or equivalent in Engineering OR Telecommunication.
  • 10 years of experience with either a telecom vendor or operator with a minimum 5 years in Telecom project management.
  • Data Network working experience, understanding of design, implementation, and operation of different IP/MPLS and DWDM solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience of IP routing and data center architectures for long-distance transport networks.
  • Knowledge and experience of Cisco and Juniper equipment (switches, routers, Firewalls, IDS, NMS).
  • Ability to prepare Project plans and Project procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively, and lead technical/project initiatives, including both technical and administrative aspects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, training and mentoring skills.
  • Must have excellent written, and oral communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Must have excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS Projects.
  • Industry-recognized certifications are desirable.
  • PMP or similar certification is mandatory.
  • CCNP or JNCIP certification is a must.
  • CCIE or JNCIE is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Fluent in English; Arabic is considered as an asset for this role.
