Quantity Surveyor

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Measuring Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the UAE.

Position Overview

Tendering activities mostly pre-contract duties such as: Preparation of Bill of quantities, quantity takeoffs / measurements to various stages of documents from concept design, schematic, details, issue for construction stages, value engineering, cost plan, variation, identify any conflicts, raise relevant queries, coordination on the design, etc. and all relevant scopes / duties during tendering.

Core Job Functions

The individual will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• To pre-measure allocated trades and sections at contract start up
• To work with the clients, PQS and team liaison to agree monthly measures, final measures and variation costing
• To complete site inspections on a regular basis, reviewing progress and possible variations
• To communicate with the Operations Team on site on a daily basis, understanding the work programme and progress on site
• To re-measure works as required
• To prepare monthly progress claims
• To measure and value new rates and variations
• To send Sub-Contractor packages for pricing and evaluation before placement of order
• To generate Sub-Contractor documentation for payments, contra charges and final accounts
• To monitor and report on costs from allowables and budgets
• To keep track of labour, materials, plant and formwork ensuring the costs are within the allowable zone and reporting any anomalies
• To report costs on a monthly basis, detailing cost reconciliations
• To delegate responsibilities to the Junior / Assistant QS where necessary
• To monitor the work delivered by the Junior / Assistant QS ensuring it is accurate and produced on time
• To mentor and motivate others within the team

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• More than 5 years as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction field.

Skills & Abilities:

• Professional Accreditation as QS or equivalent.
• Excellent Communication skills.
• Excellent numerical and IT skills.
• Experienced in AutoCAD Software / CAD Measure / Planswift or the like - used for measurement tools
• Experienced in PDF, Excel, Word, Power point, etc. all Microsoft applications
• Experienced in Quantity Surveying Measurements (Structural, Architectural, ID, Steel, Miscellaneous Metals, Facade, Landscaping, Infra, etc.)
• Experienced in BOQ production (Descriptions, Create own BQ, Quantity Checking)
• Experienced in POMI, CESMM, NRM Standard method of measurement
• Experienced in 3D Modelling softwares, BIM, Revit, Navisworks, and the like
