Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
- Reports to: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager
We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Quantity Surveyor to join our construction management team. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This role includes cost estimation, budget management, contract administration, and ensuring that projects are completed within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methods, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work closely with project stakeholders.
Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
Analyze project plans and specifications to forecast project costs and manage budgets.
- Monitor ongoing project costs and adjust forecasts as necessary.
Contract Administration:
- Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Manage contract variations and resolve any contractual disputes.
Tendering & Procurement:
- Prepare tender documents and manage the tendering process.
Evaluate and select subcontractors and suppliers based on price, quality, and reliability.
- Negotiate and secure favorable terms for contracts and procurement.
Valuation & Payments:
- Prepare interim valuations and manage payment applications.
Conduct site visits to measure and value work completed.
- Certify and recommend payments to contractors and suppliers.
Risk Management:
- Identify and manage potential risks to project cost and timelines.
Provide advice on potential financial impacts of project changes or delays.
- Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all financial and contractual matters.- Prepare regular reports on project costs, budgets, and financial performance.
Ensure all documentation is up to date and compliant with industry standards.
- Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members regarding project progress and financial matters.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:- 2-5 years of experience in quantity surveying or a related role, preferably within the construction industry.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
