Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for the position of Research Assistant in Dr. Mohamed Jamal's Stem Cell Biology and Tissue Regeneration Lab. This position is open for applicants who are currently based in the United Arab Emirates. We kindly request that candidates applying meet the prerequisites listed below.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The role holder is responsible for conducting both laboratory experiments (wet lab) and data analysis using bioinformatics tools (dry lab) under the supervision of the principal investigator (PI).
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Essential:
Master's or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, stem cell biology).
- Documented experience in both wet lab techniques (e.g., molecular biology, tissue culture) and dry lab analysis (e.g., bioinformatics, data analysis).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex and conceptual ideas.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced research environment.
Favorable: Prior experience with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
Core Responsibilities:
Wet Lab Responsibilities:
- Design and perform experiments in molecular biology, tissue regeneration, or stem cell biology.
- Carry out common molecular biology and cell culturing techniques.
- Extract, prepare, and process biological samples (e.g., DNA, RNA, proteins) for downstream applications such as sequencing or mass spectrometry.
- Assist other team members with experimental procedures, providing training in specific techniques or protocols as needed.
Dry Lab Responsibilities:
- Analyze experimental data using bioinformatics and statistical tools.
- Utilize relevant software and programming languages (e.g., R, Python) for data analysis and visualization.
- Perform integrative analysis by combining data from multiple sources, such as proteomics, transcriptomics, and genomics.
- Manage and organize experimental data, ensuring proper annotation and storage for future reference and reproducibility.
- Write detailed protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new and existing experimental workflows.
Collaborative Research and Supervision:
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in the lab and across MBRU to ensure cohesive research output.
- Participate in group meetings to discuss research progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Provide training to new lab members or junior researchers on laboratory protocols, safety procedures, and bioinformatics tools.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot experimental studies; analyze, interpret, and present data.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication and present research findings at national and international conferences.
