Description
Dr. Anne Maass is hiring a Research Associate to work on a range of projects focused on the link between language and social cognition. This includes, among others, the question on how grammatical features of different languages guide socio-cognitive processes, how a speaker's vocal characteristics affect the interpretation of an utterance (for instance, changes in meaning when a sentence is pronounced by a man vs. a woman or by a gay/lesbian vs. straight sounding speaker), or other lines of research on the language-cognition link that the Research Associate may want to pursue. The Research Associate will join Dr. Anne Maass Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD).
The Research Associate is expected to start working on the project on March 1st, 2025. The position will end on August 31st, 2026. The terms of employment are highly competitive and will include housing and travel subsidies
Review of applications will begin on Nov. 25th 2024 and will continue until the position is filled. Interviews will be conducted via Zoom.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in social psychology, linguistics or Cognitive Neuroscience in 2020 or earlier and must be able to demonstrate a strong background in experimental methodologies and an interest in understanding the role of language in social cognition. The ideal candidate will have a track record of published research in the area of language and social cognition as well as knowledge of EEG methodology. This position is not located in the United States. Unless you live in the UAE already, you must be willing to relocate to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
