Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical (Rotating) Engineer to play a crucial role in the pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of a major refinery project.

This position demands extensive experience in refinery or large-scale petrochemical projects, with an emphasis on mechanical equipment. The role requires proactive collaboration with engineering, construction, and operations teams, as well as providing technical expertise, oversight, and support for all rotating equipment in the refinery throughout the project lifecycle

Responsibilities:

Oversee equipment installation, alignment etc. at site.

Review and approve pre-commissioning procedures and checklists for rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers etc.).

Oversee the preparation and execution of pre-commissioning activities, including flushing, purging, and drying of systems.

Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of pre-commissioning activities.

Lead the commissioning team in the startup and testing of rotating equipment.

Monitor and ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards throughout the pre-commissioning and commissioning phase.

Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify and resolve issues.

Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Troubleshoot and rectify any technical problems that may arise during precommissioning and commissioning.

Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure a smooth handover of the equipment.

Prepare detailed commissioning reports and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, with a strong focus on refinery projects.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with various types of rotating equipment, including their operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • A strong understanding of relevant API standards, such as API 610, 617, 688, etc., is crucial.
  • Skill in conducting root cause analysis to determine the underlying reasons for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering principles, including reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance techniques. In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment principles, operation, and maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.
