- Take an active role in site safety management and ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental regulations.
- To work closely with safety representative from the supervising consultants, subcontractors and vendors.
- Communicate and reporting safety performance to line management.
- To monitor observation of site safety rules by project team members, subcontractors and vendors to prevent accidents / incidents and where necessary issue warnings to those who do not abide by the HSE policy for rectification purposes in case of non-compliance and unsatisfactory safety performances. Work Improvement notices as well as stop work orders shall be raised wherever necessary.
- Undertake planned inspection and audit of all site operations to monitor compliance with statutory regulations, incl. ADPHC / OSHAD, DM Code of Construction Safety practice or Local regulatory requirements and observing HSE Policy.
- Attend schedule and ad-hoc safety meetings.
- To assist in the investigation of OHS related accidents, injuries, occupational hazards/illnesses or near misses etc. and make necessary recommendations.
- To promote safety awareness on site by providing safety induction training and safety briefings to workers & supervisors, coordinate & organize relevant in-house or external training programs as needed.
- To maintain relevant site safety files and records; submit monthly safety reports to the Project HSE Manager with copies to the Group HSE Office.
- Coordinate with Logistic to recommend site security measures and monitor their enforcement and notify any observation of substandard act to Logistic for their improvement.
- Responding to workers safety concerns
- To coordinate with the site medical attendants, report to HSE Manager on the quantities and ordering of monthly medicine requirements as per the predefined list.
- To record, review and provide comments on risk assessment and OHS method statement for all hazardous activities on site.
- To handle problem areas and make necessary contingency arrangements.
- Carrying out drills and exercises on managing emergency situations, aiming to test the effectiveness of site emergency response plans.
- Coordinates matters regarding hazardous materials or waste management with Logistic as well as sustainability team to site storekeeper, assist the handling and dispose of according to requirement.
- To identify potential hazard areas, recommend measures to Operation team so as to proactively prevent accidents.
- Generate and encourage generations of suggestions to improve safety at work thus moving towards making safety a collective effort.
- Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
All other duties as assigned with consent by the Group HSE Manager.
Requirements:
Minimum Education: Diploma or Bachelor of Science/Engineering Degree in HSE, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Industrial Engineering etc.
Minimum Qualification: NEBOSH General Certificate in OHS (or NVQ level 3 equivalent) and ISO-45001 Lead Auditor qualification mandatory, preferable OSHA 10 30 Hrs General Industry Safety and Health Program and/or other HSE related training desired.
Minimum Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the field of Health and Safety in engineering construction projects (building projects OR Oil & Gas projects).
For Oil & Gas - ADNOC approved candidates will be preferred.
