Job Description:
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Safety Officer to join our team. The Safety Officer will be responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous situations and developing measures to assure personnel safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and unsafe practices.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery, etc.).
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
- Review existing policies and update them in accordance with legislation and best practices.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to identify causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Organize and conduct safety training courses for employees.
- Keep records of inspections, training, and incidents.
- Ensure equipment and machinery are adequately maintained and safe for use.
- Compile reports on health and safety data and present to management.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a Safety Officer or similar role for a Minimum 5 years.
- NEBOSH certification required.
- In-depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Diligent with great attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
- BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or a relevant field is preferred; Certificate in occupational health and safety is an advantage.
