Job Description (Role Purpose)
Rout Sales Supervisor plays a pivotal role in leading and motivating their team to achieve aggressive sales goals and expand Coca-Cola and Allied Brands market share in their designated area. This involves providing clear direction, setting goals, fostering motivation, and actively engaging in people development. The supervisor is accountable for planning and directing sales activities, meeting sales quotas, and assessing area performance. Additionally, they contribute to the development and execution of merchandising and promotion plans, ensuring adherence to approved strategies and cultivating an effective selling organization.
Accountabilities:
- To know, by personal sales effort, the market conditions and sales o, and to plan his sales coverage utilizing this information. To report regularly to his Sales Manager any progress within his area and all marketing opportunities or problems.
- He must plan and lay-out all sales routes so that the major markets in the area are aggressively sold. To ensure that each route provides satisfactory product volume to the Route Salesman as well as to the Company and that each outlet is serviced on a regular basis. He should plan the proper sequence of stops on each route so that the travel time and mileage costs will be kept to a minimum.
- To clearly define job responsibilities, requirements, objectives and standards of performance for the Route Salesmen.
- To enforce merchandising standards in the area, point of sale material, racks, displays and coolers.
- To train the Route Salesmen with their work requirements by means of regular morning meetings, and by travelling with them. He must convey any sales or merchandising mistakes that are made; indicate work overlooked or neglected; and give recognition for good performance. Keep records of significant performance or incidents, good or bad.
- To ensure that the outlets in his area are being properly developed and that a balanced selling job is being done by the Route Salesman.
- Opens new outlets by personal sales effort and to look for additional sales opportunities. He must promote the sales of Coca-Cola, Sprite and Fanta at all special events taking place in his area. He must know his competitors and be able to deal effectively with any competitor's advantage.
- To secure that all advertising or display material requested is justified before approval is given, and that all Company advertising material, once installed, is kept clean, attractive and effective. To control advertising costs in his area.
- He must inform the Sales Manager regularly of sales progress being attained, market trends and competitive activity in his area.
- He must stimulate the sales of coolers, both by sales training and personal sales effort.
- He must insist that all required daily sales, activity, settlement, or any other reports are promptly and accurately prepared. He should use these reports in effectively managing his market area.
Academic/Professional Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, sales, or a related field.
Successful completion of coursework in sales techniques, marketing, and communication may be advantageous.
