ROLE

The Scrum Master is a leader responsible for sustaining the effectiveness and efficiency of the agile team and the overall factory, while driving continuous improvement.

MISSION

The Scrum Master serves and supports the agile team and the broader organization by facilitating the Murex agile team operating model, coaching team members, and removing impediments to progress.

The Scrum Master ensures the team's efficiency and fosters continuous improvement in delivering high-value products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Scrum Master plays a pivotal role in creating an environment where the agile team can perform at its highest level and deliver value consistently. The Scrum Master's responsibilities are crucial for the success and efficiency of the agile team.

Here are some key responsibilities:

  • Facilitating team events: Ensuring effective execution of all Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Coaching and mentoring: Providing agile guidance and support to enhance the team's performance and growth.
  • Removing impediments: Actively identifying and eliminating with the team obstacles that hinder their progress in delivering value or escalating when help is needed.
  • Managing dependencies:Identifying and coordinating inter-team and intra-team dependencies with the team to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
  • Mitigating risks:Proactively identifying potential risks and working with the team to develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate them.
  • Protecting the team: Shielding the team from external distractions and helping them stay focused on their sprint goals.
  • Supporting the Product Owner:Assisting with the Product Backlog management and helping refine and prioritize work items.
  • Promoting agile principles: Encouraging and leading the adoption of agile practices and principles within the team.
  • Ensuring effective estimation and planning:Guiding the team in estimating story points, planning based on velocity, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Facilitating communication:Acting as a bridge between the team and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and mutual understanding.
  • Ensuring team dynamics:Fostering a strong, collaborative, and self-organizing team environment.
  • Creating transparency through metrics:Sharing relevant metrics and feedback to identify issues and drive continuous improvement.

  1. Agile/Lean expertise:They reduce waste and improve the flow of work, while incorporating the lessons of agile to ensure adaptability and reactivity in unpredictable contexts.

  3. Coaching:They partner with an individual or a team in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their potential.
  4. Facilitation: They guide the team towards surfacing insight that will help it achieve its goals and objectives.
