Job Description
As the
Senior Accountant in Finance & Tax you will ensure the month end processes are executed, with strict adherence to financial standards and regulations, while prioritizing the timely submission of financial reports while ensuring compliance with Thungela's accounting policies and relevant accounting standards during month-end processes. You will also require Performing tax calculations, return preparation and filing, ensure tax payments are processed in line with relevant UAE Tax authority guidance as well as taking accountability for the accuracy of all tax related reports including transfer pricing.
More of your responsibilities will include:
- Submitting all financial reports accurately and promptly in the prescribed format into the designated financial reporting systems (SAP, HFM & Ramesys)
- Collaboration in the preparation of budget, forecast, and MOP information by prioritizing accuracy in financial reporting and ensuring the timely creation of budget and forecast documents.
- Preparing financial and management reports including subsidiary information and MOP data accurately and on schedule
- Conducting ad-hoc analyses on significant transactions and report trends or unusual movements promptly as required
- Ensuring meticulous accuracy in tax calculation and filing processes, while maintaining strict compliance with all relevant tax regulations related to registered companies and special purpose vehicles (SPVs) in the United Arab Emirates
- Maintaining required tax documentation and related paperwork in prescribed formats to meet both internal and statutory requirements.
- Assisting in the preparation of transfer pricing disclosure forms, local files, and master files ensuring accuracy
- Providing ongoing tax input into budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes in compliance with Thungela Group Tax requirements
- Managing and coordinating year end and interim reporting deadlines with external auditors and internal auditors to ensure group reporting deadlines are met and a clean audit is achieved.
- Acting as a liaison between Group Finance and the Export Marketing Business Unit to provide finance and tax information as required by Thungela Finance for reporting purposes and other ad hoc purposes
- Monitoring the performance and accuracy of systems as well as analyzing problems and resolving where appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Financial Management or related disciplines (NQF level 7) or international equivalent
- Applicable certification i.e.: CA/CIMA (Advantageous)
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum 5 years financial management experience with in-depth experience of financial and management reporting and tax compliance within the UAE in a Commodity Trading or related industry
- Good experience in establishing and managing effective relationships with auditors & tax authorities
