EnCompass LLC seeks a
Senior Communications Specialist for the
USAID Makanati Women's Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity in Jordan. Makanati is a five-year USAID-funded activity aimed at increasing women's access to waged employment and leadership opportunities in Jordan by addressing social norms and enhancing the enabling environment for the workforce. The Senior Communications Specialist will play a crucial role in leading content creation, strategic communication efforts, and social media engagement to enhance the Activity's public visibility and impact.
This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in strategic communications, content development, and working with USAID projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient in English and Arabic, able to support grantees in developing communication products, and skilled in managing social media initiatives.
This is a full-time position based in Amman, Jordan, with possible travel within the country.
Essential Functions
Position Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Communications Specialist Will Be Responsible For- Strategic Communications Leadership
- Develop and implement the overall communications strategy to support Makanati's public awareness, SBC, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Lead media and event promotion plans in coordination with technical leads and local partners.
- Produce communication materials, including success stories, reports, press releases, newsletters, and social media content.
- Ensure compliance with USAID marking and branding policies across all communications materials.
- Digital Content and Social Media Management
- Lead the development and management of Makanati's social media presence, creating compelling content that supports SBC objectives and showcases the Activity's achievements.
- Collaborate with the team to identify communication opportunities and develop creative content for social media platforms, blogs, newsletters, and other digital channels.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure regular posting and consistent engagement with key stakeholders and audiences.
- Ensure all digital communications adhere to USAID guidelines and best practices.
- Public and Media Relations
- Foster relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets to promote Makanati's objectives and activities.
- Coordinate with the media at Makanati's events and other public relations activities to highlight the Activity's impact.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the effective dissemination of Activity results and activities.
- Capacity Building and Training
- Design and facilitate communications and media training workshops for staff, grantees, and local stakeholders.
- Build the capacity of grantees to implement communication strategies that align with Activity objectives and USAID guidelines.
- Event Planning and Coordination
- Lead the planning and execution of public awareness events, SBC campaigns, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Collaborate with the Events Management Specialist to ensure events align with USAID branding and communication goals.
- Ensure the efficient procurement and management of communication products and services in compliance with USAID regulations.
- Represent Makanati as and when requested by the COP/DCOP
- Administrative and Reporting
- Maintain organized records of communication activities, event planning, and media engagement.
- Contribute to regular reporting on communication activities, including success metrics and future plans.
- Other:
- Engage fully as a member of the EnCompass staff team, including participating in staff meetings and other EnCompass events, and providing administrative support to other team members as needed

Position Requirements
Qualifications
Academic Qualifications
Master's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Development, or a related field, with 4+ years of relevant experience OR bachelor's degree in a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
Required
Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of branding, marking, and USAID communications regulations is required.
- Proven experience in a communications role for a USAID-funded project or similar large donor projects
- Strong social media management skills and experience with digital content creation, ideally for a USAID Activity or Project or another large donor.
- Strong social media management skills, including creating content for social media platforms, blogs, and newsletters.
- Excellent writing skills in English and Arabic, with experience of writing success stories and regular donor reports.
- Experience in training and capacity-building in communications teams and for partners and grantees.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans for public awareness and behavior change initiatives.
- Experience leading media relations efforts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Arabic.
- Ability to travel within Jordan as needed.
- Citizen or permanent resident of Jordan
