About the Role
This role is sits within the Corporate Compliance department in Corporate Assurance to ensure a consistent approach to business ethics and governance within the organization. The role will be instrumental in developing and building upon Abdul Latif Jameel's (ALJ) existing governance framework to promote a strong culture of compliance across its activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Function as part of the Corporate Compliance department, helping to develop and implement strategies to manage compliance risks.
- Provide advice and support to the business units and other corporate functions of ALJ within relevant areas of compliance & ethics (anti-corruption, anti-competitive behavior, trade sanctions, human rights as well as other Code of Honor related matters).
- Localize and implement compliance and ethics programs within ALJ's business in coordination with regional and local leadership teams.
- Serve as a primary contributor to strategic business partners and key stakeholders.
- Aid in the business in evaluation and engagement of trustworthy business partners through effective conduct of due diligence and design of monitoring/oversight processes.
- Enhance visibility of compliance & ethics across relevant business units and continue to build awareness and accountability among key stakeholders.
- Report progress, challenges, and plans to ALJ's executive leadership, and appropriate oversight bodies within the organization.
- Research, enable, and deliver tools and support to ensure that ALJ's business is conducted in compliance with applicable rules and regulations and in an ethical manner.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10-12 years of professional experience with at least 7 years of experience building and driving compliance and ethics programs in a multinational organization.
- Sound understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
- Embody and demonstrate a high level of integrity and ability to build trust.
- Team player with the ability to work independently and to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence individuals at all levels of the organization and operating in different cultures, geographies and functions.
- Practical approach to compliance with a view to working as a strong strategic business partner to the various functions and stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions in a team environment to implement complex programmes.
- Must be fluent in English. A proficiency in Arabic would be an advantage.
- Able to travel regionally as when required.
