About the Role

The Senior Design Engineer's job is mainly to design and develop detailed site plans for solar PV system installation by incorporating the contract specifications, client requirements and government regulations without compromising the constructability of these designs.

The Senior Design Engineer takes the initial system concept ideas and translates them into fully detailed construction-ready designs. Coordinating with multiple team members and customers, the Design Engineer balances the necessity of a customer solution with the efficiency of standard practices.

Requirements:

• Electrical Engineering degree and 6+ years in solar industry design roles.
• Expertise in the execution of PV Power Plant Projects and knowledge of mechanical installations.
• Proficiency in PVsyst, MS Office, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
• Preferred experience with HSE Regulations and a qualification for the local Grid Operator/Distribution Company contracting license.

Key Responsibilities:

KRA 1: Full Understanding of Local Electrical Regulations

Mastery of Electrical Networks, Grid Code, and Earthing Systems.

Design and size PV systems, including Net-Metering and Self-consumption/Captive systems.

Adhere to local/international standards for on/off-grid PV system design.

KRA 2: Prepare drawings and documents at proposal stage

Conduct site assessments, devise preliminary layouts, and performance estimates.

Analyze technical RFPs/tenders and generate documents with cost-effective, creative solutions.

Produce PV layouts/SLDs on AutoCAD, aligned with YDE and international standards.

KRA 3: Prepare detailed drawings at project stage

Collaborate with engineering teams for detailed engineering drawings and calculations.

Work with the power systems team on Grid Code compliance and design.

Coordinate with procurement to align project design and requirements.

KRA 4: Perform compliance and quality control

Negotiate contracts with EPC's focusing on engineering specs and schedules.

Validate PV plant equipment and specifications, ensuring compliance with YDE standards.

Be the technical liaison with suppliers for project solutions and optimizations.
